Interviews About Albums: Forever Autumn - Crowned In Skulls (2022)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Avant-Garde project Forever Autumn to ask some questions about his new album "Crowned In Skulls". 

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

As far as records go, it came together quite swiftly. I am proud of 'Crowned in Skulls'. It feels like a defining release. This is the culmination of decades of hard work. It is a place Forever Autumn has been working toward for years. There is so much to say, yet so little that needs to be said. I hope the EP can speak for itself. It has much to tell.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The title 'Crowned in Skulls' is something that has been in the back of my mind for years. It is finally time to use it. The crown of skulls is a connexion to the Other World, to a place of spirit and magick. The crown channels the natural and preternatural worlds. It honors what has been and looks toward what is to come. 

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I, Autumn Ni Dubhghaill, am the composer of this EP, as well as producer and engineer.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

It would depend on what I am picking this song for. Each song has its own purpose and meaning. Each their own voice that joins together as one. If I were to choose a song to represent the whole world, I would choose 'the Forest and the Nyght'.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

There are many messages in this EP. There are layers upon layers of medicine and meaning. These, however, I cannot reveal, as it is up to the viewer, or in this case this listener, to really experience each was and find their own way.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

I will share a few lines from the last song on the record; 'Under Shadows of Annwn';

"...lo, if time has come to pass

and embers found their way

then burdens born of soot and ash

somehow made the fire last..."

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

As mentioned above, the natural and preternatural worlds provide influence and inspirit. It's about bringing wisdom and medicine back from the Other World, for the benefit of the self and the people.

8. Something to add?

The official release will be in February. CDs and Digital will be available. Vinyl records are being produced however due to the production tyme and the long long queue at the record plants, the vinyl record will not be available until sometyme after the release.
