Interviews: Catch Your Breath
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Catch Your Breath from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just
like that?
Well, we actually were called Inertia when we first started. Then we realized there were
several other bands in the world using it, and one just happened to be from the US. So
we decided to rebrand and change our name. I was watching the movie 300 and
Leonidas tells Dilios to "catch your breath" after running up to him to alert him about the
Persian army and I thought "That could be a cool band name." And that's how the name
came about.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This type of music has always been my favorite genre and I've been in the scene my
whole life. It's always been a part of me. So it was only natural to be in this band.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No. At least for me, everyone was a complete stranger. Teddy and Onell knew each
beforehand, they originally were there from conception. It wasn't till Curtis, who's our
Producer now, asked me if I wanted to audition for this band in Texas and I was
interested. I get along with these guys better than some people I've grown up with and
tried to do music with.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Josh: A Day To Remember
Teddy: Linkin Park
Cianan: Periphery
Onell: Red
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Everything. I draw inspiration from everything I hear and see. Outside of myself, my family
inspires me greatly.
6. Where was your last gig?
The Loft Atlanta. It was lit! Teddy did the One Chip Challenge at the end of the night
and he took it like a champ.
7. Where would you like to act?
Japan, for sure! I would LOVE to see the Cherry Blossom forest.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Would’ve loved to have done a song with Keaton Pierce from Too Close To Touch, RIP. Rory
from Dayseeker I would love that a lot too!
9. Whom not?
Marilyn Manson
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on
how to beat that?
Yes. Myself. The tip I have is to just Catch Your Breath, and just go, get on stage. Once
you start going, it gets easy, I promise.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A Day To Remember, Of Mice & Men, Linkin Park, and a ton of others. These 3 to
name a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
None of us have asked anything strange of us yet. We're still just getting out there, so I'm sure
there are some good ones coming!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love our fans! We think our fans are the most amazing. We truly wouldn't be
anywhere without their support.
14. What do you think of our site?
Growing up I would have loved to have something like Breathing The Core. I would
always be looking around for new stuff to get into.
15. Something to add?
Would like to say, a shoutout to Todd McCarty for believing in our potential back in 2018 when we
dropped our song Yesterday and mentoring us along the way since. Shoutout to our Producer,
Curtis Martin, for really going above and beyond for us with our music. Shoutout to our
manager, Dave Bethel, for believing in us, and shoutout to Thriller Records for giving us this
incredible opportunity.
