Interviews: SETANERA

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band, SETANERA from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name of the band was born from the desire to find a word that in extreme synthesis reflected the soul of the band. SETA (Silk) because our front is a female and therefore delicacy and elegance. NERA (Black) because it contains all the dark, metal, and symphonic soul that distinguishes our sound. Finally, the choice of a name of Italian origin is clearly a way to demonstrate our origins and our identity to the whole world.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

Each member of the band comes from different musical experiences and this album proves it even more. But we find common points in the mix of symphonic, electronic, and rock-metal music. It is our natural way of expression.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Basically each of us was already performing in the Italian musical underground set. The decision to join has been more than natural and spontaneous.

4. Each band member's favorite band? 

We are inspired by completely different bands, artists, and composers: Rush, Bach, Muse, Within Temptation, Queensryche, Guano Apes, just to name a few.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Songs don't have a program or writing time, they arise naturally from moods and from the observation of society and its continuous changes. We often photograph the reality that surrounds us and talk about it, always trying to leave a positive and often hopeful message.

6. Where was your last gig?

In our hometown: Rome, after finishing an Italian tour as an opener at the legendary Queensryche!

7. Where would you like to act? 

Wherever there is the possibility to express ourselves. Our music in general and our new album in particular has been written for a personal emotional need of the band but with the intention of spreading it to as many people as possible. It is our maximum form of expression.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would like to share the stage with other female bands like Evanescece, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Guano Apes, Epica, etc.

9. Whom not?

There are no bands or artists we don't want to play with. We believe that everyone who makes music and art can enrich us and can leave us with something good.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that? 

We have gained a long life experience. Let's not talk about fear but about adrenaline which is right there and must never be missing! Let's not hide the fact that at the beginning of our career, during our first concerts, we felt the tension and a little fear of playing in front of an audience. The advice we can give to beginners is to live in the moment without any expectations but only with the desire to have fun, and be natural. Nothing else matters.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Our official logo for a tattoo!!

13. What do you think of your fans?

A fan is a word we don't like very much. It creates a lot of detachment between us and those who follow us. In any case, they represent the engine that keeps us alive and that leads us to push ourselves further and further and not stop. Our music is their music.

14. What do you think of our site?

We are always very happy when sites like yours dedicate space and attention to music in such a detailed and professional way, especially when you leave the mainstream and discover the riches of the underground. Thanks to a mission like yours are possible to have the opportunity to give a voice to those who truly deserve it. Congratulations guys!
