Interviews About Albums: Beyond The Veil - The Hunter's Fate (2022)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American/German Extreme Metal band Beyond The Veil to ask some questions about their album "The Hunter's Fate"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Our intent with this was to combine elements of the types of metal that we love and combine it with elements of horror to create something dark and heavy. We brought together elements of death metal, black metal, deathcore and added in horror-based atmosphere and soundscapes to create something we like to call horrorcore.

2 . What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The Hunter’s Fate is tied to a hunter in Bloodborne. The songs explore the brutality, tragedy and suffering that is the life of a hunter.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

It was a collaborative effort between the three of us. Adam did most of the guitar work, Michael was lead vocals and Jimmy handled the drums, some vocals, and mixing and production. All of us added atmospheric elements as well. We had Michael’s wife record the spoken word part in Covenant of the Vilebloods. For bass, we had two guest appearances and Adam did one song.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Maria’s Nightmare is a fun one. We started out trying to just do something crazy. Jimmy came up with this beat at 260 beats per minute just to see what we could do with it. It came out as a solid song.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

It’s based on the Lovecraft-inspired game, Bloodborne. When writing, we had a specific focus on keeping that theme for the songs. There is a lot of darkness and horror in that game and it fits perfectly for us when trying to do horrorcore music.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Sure. This bit from Father Gascoigne sums up The Hunter’s Fate really well.

To hunt his hellish prey
Over time he gave away
What little humanity left
Of his sanity left bereft In a blood-frenzy

The cruel fate of the hunter
Humanity left behind

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Our main inspirations are probably our love of metal, our love of horror, and our love of From Software games. Those are the crux of the composition of the songs.

8. Something to add?

We would like to thank everyone for checking us out and listening to our music. We appreciate everyone who does. Also would like to give a shout-out to Collapse Agency. Working with them has been a good fit for us.
