Interviews: AIN'T

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal project, AIN'T from Italy. Check out the interview and follow this project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

One day I was writing an intro for a hypothetical EP and all the sentences started with "Ain't etc etc". It was at that moment that I started thinking of that word as a band name. Then, being a word that defines negation, it has many meanings within itself that perfectly fit my art.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Actually, I didn't decide to play this genre. I usually write acoustic music and then go to the studio and start arranging. I do everything in the moment, I don't plan anything. What comes out, comes out. Then, I realized through experience that whatever you do, it will always come out as you least expect it, also generally in life. It's better this way because it means that you have more chances to be original, since often in all of us artists there is a desire to imitate something or someone we like.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I didn't know any of the people I've played with in the AIN'T project before they came to play with me.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I have many, but for various reasons perhaps I can put Pink Floyd on the top step of the podium.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My lifestyle, my paranoia, my vision of the world, everything related to my daily life, and my personality. To confirm this, the artwork of "Lo-Fi Demo EP" is my prostate ultrasound. I think that it perfectly represents the concept of narcissism and egocentrism.

6. Where was your last gig?

In a club in my town, Penne.

7. Where would you like to act?

Wherever there are people ready to make noise. It doesn't matter what the venue or the festival is.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Nobody. If only GG Allin were still alive, he would have been the only one I would have collaborated with and shared the stage with. And then we would most likely have trashed the club and run off into the middle of town to piss people off.

9. Whom not?

Certainly with any artist signed to a major label.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I always suffer from that. I am anxious by nature. My advice is not to be lucid. Then if you make mistakes, never care, that means it's rock 'n roll.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I listen to music all the time. Every day I discover something interesting that inspires me and that, consequently, I unconsciously bring into my composition and my sound. Even though Oasis doesn't appeal to me as much as before, they have had a great influence on me, especially in the creation of vocal melodies. In addition to them, I can certainly mention Placebo and Marilyn Manson.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing particular. Since my project is still in its infancy, I haven't yet met so many people around the world to find the one who makes the strange request. Perhaps the strangest thing I've heard right now is a friend of mine who usually wears M/L ordered me a T-shirt with the logo AIN'T XXL. I don't know why!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They listen to my music, so no doubt they are cool!

14. What do you think of our site?

I think you are cool too! I really appreciate it when someone gives you a chance to express your thoughts and feelings through an interview or something. It's not something we can expect from everyone. There are only a few who will give you such an opportunity. So great!

15. Something to add?

I'm currently working on a single, it's a cover of a very badass punk band. Follow AIN'T on the various social networks (we are everywhere) to stay up-to-date, to find out what kind of band we are but, above all, to listen to new tracks. Ciao!
