Interviews: A Pretext To Human Suffering

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Slam/Technical Death Metal band, A Pretext To Human Suffering. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We know it's a pretty long band name, but the name is intentional, we focus on topics of human suffering. Weather that be mental illness, cruelty, abuse, addictions, and existentialism.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Hmm, never thought about why, it's just what we do, it's not an intention to write things a certain way it's just what we write. To say what we enjoy about it; for me personally, I love the build-ups and release of the music, blast beats, slams, and fast riffs.-Chris

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, it started out at a solo project of mine (Chris Mathis) in 2019 and I recently joined another band at the time as well. I had already released some music and the guys from the other band had some tracks that complemented what I was writing so we decided to join forces as a team of three writers to deliver punishing music.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Hard to say but if I had to choose Id probably say Psyopus for me (Chris), Guttural Secrete-Wes, cognitive, disgorge, abominable putridity, origin=Beto

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Well the lyrical themes and lyrics themselves are either from past traumatic experiences or observations of society. As far as writing riffs, listening to some slamming tunes usually inspires me to pick up the guitar.

6. Where was your last gig?

We have never played a show and will not be until 2024. We are taking 2023 to release our album and build our fanbase.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

So many great bands across many genres, but Archspire, Origin, Thy Art is Murder, Ingested, Oceano, Dying Fetus, Suffocation.

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Just know most suffer from pre-show jitters, but as soon as you step out in front of an audience your adrenaline will take over.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Origin, Vital Remains, Suffocation, Abominable Putridity, Psyopus, Converge, Animosity, Jesus Piece, and so many bands.

10. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are our number one priority after the quality of the music we write. We love each and every person who has taken the time to listen to us, share our music or interact with us on our socials.

11. What do you think of our site?

It's great, it's an awesome insightful website for discovering new artists.

12. Something to add?

Thanks for the interview and be sure to follow us across all our social @apthscult for all the new music and surprises we have lined up for 2023. It's gonna be a heavy year for us! And thank you to anyone who has taken the time to gain some insight into APTHS.
