Behind The Artworks: Thymata - Embraced By Death (2023)

Finding suitable artwork for an album is almost as hard as finding a good name for a new band.

This time I wanted something dark and menacing. The title for the album was already there, now I had to find something to fit the emotion of being Embraced by Death. When I found "A funeral" by Jean-Paul Laurens there was not a single doubt in my mind, this was it. The entire painting encapsulates the emotion of being Embraced by Death. It's dark and menacing, yet not your standard black metal artwork although the minute you see it you know this is black metal. It could not possibly be any other kind of music on this album.

It is by far the greatest artwork of any of my albums and it will look stunning on vinyl.
