Interviews: Blood Stained Dusk

I'm thrilled to be sitting down with Blood Stained Dusk, a powerful and intense Black Metal band that has been making waves in the scene. Their dark and foreboding sound is not for the faint of heart. Don't forget to check out their Facebook page to keep up with their latest news and releases.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name..was it planned or did it come out like that?

The band name is derived from lyrics that were written many years ago

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Very dark and extreme things have always appealed to me. Whether it be horror, the occult, serial killers, etc So I guess that it's natural to say that it was a match made in hell haha! and the best way to explain-we found each other.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, for the most part anyways. You have band members come and go for various reasons etc. But Thorgrin and I have been playing together now for over 20+ years

4. Band members' favorite bands?

I can't answer for the others to be honest. But I can say this, it's all over the spectrum, with so many different influences and inspirations.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Horror, the occult, dark things of nature. I've written many of our lyrics based on dreams and things that have happened in life.

6. Where was your last gig?

That would be Chicago! We love playing there and have a killer fan base there too. I know that we've played there at least a dozen times since our inception. We've never been afraid to venture out and travel all over the USA! I want to add that playing in your own city or state only is boring and a waste of time in my eyes. If you're a serious musician you need to gtfo out there!

7. Where would you like to act?

Europe! I got the honor to play all over Europe as the session drummer for Norway's Ancient back in 1998 and it was easily one of the best times of my life! i really want that for this band too. A main goal for us is to have the opportunity to play at all the major festivals, both here and overseas too.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I've become friends with a lot of the big named artists over the years such as Mayhem, Venom, Venom inc, Dark Funeral, Belphegor, Behemoth, Necrophagia, Limbonic Art and so many more too! For us to be an opener for any of the aforementioned bands above would be an understatement.

9. Whom not?

Reading carefully here haha...Obviously, no nonmetal bands, especially Christian anything is a big no!

10. Have any of you suffered from stage fright?

It's only natural for one to be nervous at every gig, keep you in check! You have to consider these factors...new night, new crowd, new place, new sound (when backline) new equipment, and the list goes on. Now for beginner tips ... #1 DON'T piss off your sound man!! if you do, you're fucked and going to sound like shit guaranteed! We always take the time to meet them and discuss how we would like for things to be with our set and offer to buy them a drink. That goes a long way, a 6 dollar drink can make your night! If you do decide to do this, they will be more inclined to have your back. everything else..focus, don't be a rock star, and have fun.

11. What bands inspired you the most?

This is kind of an open question, as mine may differ from the others. Mine would be Black Sabbath, Venom and Venom inc, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Deep Purple, WASP,acdc, Limbonic Art, Mayhem and so many more..the list is endless

12. What's the weirdest thing I've been asked for?

Had to think about this one ... I'd say when we were asked by someone to let them sleep in our RV while we were inside the club playing and watching the show. They were unsuccessful, to say the least haha

13. What do think of your fans?

This is a very easy but true thing to answer...The answer would be, they are everything to us! without them you're nothing! We're eternally grateful to our fans..thank you for the support over all the years!

14. What do you think of our site?

To be honest with you, I haven't seen it, but I wish you the best with it.

15. Something to add?

Thank you ver much for the interview...hope everyone enjoyed the new single No Light Shall Penetrate..it's up on all streaming services. We're working diligently on the new material and some great things are in the works! see you on the road!
