Interviews: The Casket Kids

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Horror Punk/Metal/Rock 'N' Roll band, The Casket Kids from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

CY: As I still do, wearing a lot of black clothing when I was younger and being from the South before it was kind of accepted. I believe it was meant as a joke or jab at me, but a very southern individual said “You always wearin’ black like you going to a funeral, you must be a zombie or somethin’ we should just call you casket kid.” And thus the name rolled around in my head for years until I put it to good use and started a band with my brother Bradley.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

CY: Well, we blended genres to create this one. Not just happy with sticking to one, we made our own. But I guess you could say we fit into multiple? But isn’t it all just rock n’ roll?

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

CY: Bradley my brother has always been there wouldn’t have it any other way. Paul has always been around and supported us, he came and watched us play, we played with the bands he was in, then the opportunity arose for him to join us. Bren was a young kid we heard about that was raw and wild at drums, just what we needed.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

CY: Mine would be Misfits, Bradley’s would be D.R.I. Brens would be Foo Fighters, Pauls would be Pentagram.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

CY: Weird, ugly, strange, unholy things.

6. Where was your last gig?

CY: True Story Brewery in Birmingham, AL. We opened for John Christ of Danzig fame.

7. Where would you like to act?

CY: For as many that would like to hear us, and even those that don’t. But an event or place would be Wacken Open Air.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

CY: That would be all those bands we mentioned before as our favorites. Those would be dreams come true.

9. Whom not?

CY: Not sure I can answer that. We’re not afraid to play with anyone. Be them friend or foe.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

CY: Yes, The Very First Time I ever performed live, I was shaking. But I pushed through it. As soon as that first note was played, I transform my mindset, bringing out the one that hides.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

CY: Mourning Noise, Pentagram, David Bowie, T.S.O.L. FEAR, Misfits, Venom, Samhain, Blitzkid, Cancerslug, I can’t really pinpoint that one, there’s so many, haha.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

CY: Hair. Ha ha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

CY: Without them we are nothing. We need their energy to do what we do.

14. What do you think of our site?

CY: A very good place to see and hear new and existing artists of heavy and alternative persuasion!

15. Something to add?

CY: Tell your friends, family, and enemies about TCK. We’re here, staying here, never going away.
