Interviews: The Undertaker

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band, The Undertaker from Japan. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you come up with the band name? Did you plan it?

This band name was decided on this name based on the concept of Grave Diggers. I wanted to make up for the whole corrupted era. A band with such a concept.

2. Why did you want to do this genre?

I've been playing metal for many years, but I wanted to try other sounds. "I still like the sound of metal, but it's really tight whether it's metal or not." I'm also influenced by rock, punk, hardcore, blues, and country. So I wanted to try a band or a new genre that could mix and play all those sounds.

3. Did you know each other before the band formed?

We used to be friends drinking and partying in bars. I want to do music in order to enjoy it without hesitation. It's a natural flow because we all started jamming in the damn pandemic.

4. What is each member's favorite band?

First of all, I like Discharge, Metallica, and The Doors. In other blues and country, 4410 on guitar likes NY hardcore, and drums like Korn and NU Metal by Deftones.

5. Who inspired you to write songs?

The reason why I write songs is that I come up with riffs and melodies first, and then I make jam sessions based on that. It's boring to have a songwriting process where you can edit from the beginning on modern computers. So I prefer the old-school way

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig is at a small club in Tokyo. It was a lot of fun sharing the stage with different styles of rock bands.

7. Where would you like to perform?

If I have the chance, I want to play anywhere, and I definitely want to play festivals in Europe. Hell Fest is so exciting!

8. Who would you like to perform with?

I want to play with all the cool inspirational bands. If I could perform with Metallica, it would be too amazing to die.

9. Not Who?

Not particularly

10. Has anyone suffered from stage fright? Do you have any strategies for beginners?

I have Every time I feel so nervous that I want to run away. But you get used to it. When I step backstage, I feel like I'm Superman and I can do anything. In order to be able to do so, it is important to get used to the environment and not lose your sense of tension. If you get too used to it, it becomes boring.

11. Which band has influenced you the most?

Punk, hardcore, and early thrash metal in general

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to do?

The guy who's been demanding to talk to me for a few hours at the merchandise counter for a long time, that was weird. I talked to him a lot because he was so pitiful, but he left without even buying a T-shirt...

13. What do you think about fans?

Fans are always welcome. But at the same time capricious. So it might be the happiest and scariest existence. I thank you for the most part.

14. What do you think about our site?

Awesome!!!! I'm so happy that they picked up newcomers like us.
