Sorrowspell - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Melodic Deathcore/Djent band Sorrowspell from UK, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Alex Sevigny: We came up with Sorrowspell after kind of just talking about band names. We looked at a lot of different names and that one just kind of stuck out to me.
Alex Ives: It sorta just came out by accident it was one of the many names rattling around my head and it sorta stuck in a sense that it's not a name you would expect and it drew a lot of attention, it is also a play off or spin off from Carnifex's song Sorrowspell
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
AS: We chose to play deathcore because it was kind of the background that we both came from, like that's the genre that we'd largely played with other projects. So we aimed to just make the heaviest possible deathcore that we felt we could.
AI: I have had a love for heavy metal from an early age my first proper band that got me wanting to play this genre where Parkway Drive & Chelsea Grin
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
AS: We kind of knew each other but it wasn't until we started this band that we really got to know each other.
AI: We knew eachother from previous projects and from helping produce my old bands debut single and our friendship grew from a professional level into a personal friendship
4. Each band member favourite band?
AS: I enjoy listening to a hell of a lot of different bands and genres, but one band that I listen to that I feel deserves the title of favorite is the band that introduced me to deathcore, which would be Born of Osiris. When I first heard them I was just utterly blown away by the technicality, heaviness, and even melody in their songs.
AI: Carnifex-Chelsea Grin-Parkway Drive-Heaven Shall Burn & I Declare War
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
AS: I think there's a huge amount of things that generally inspire me to create music. Life experiences definitely contribute to certain aspects, as well as our race in general and how we deal with the world that we live in, so like sociological factors.
AI: Emotions and feelings anything I hear or see I play off to write music
6. Where was your last gig?
AS: Unfortunately because of us being on different continents we haven't been able to play a show yet, but maybe sometime in the future we'll be able to, although I've played a few gigs in different projects in my small home town Salmon Arm.
AI: Glasgow
7. Where would you like to act?
AS: I'd love to preform in any big city in front of a huge and loud audience!
AI: preferably somewhere that has free food xD
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
AS: I'd love to play a show with any of my favorite bands, or even a lot of the underground bands that I listen to. I'd definitely be tight to chill with them after the show too.
AI: Mecromorph hands down
9. Whom not?
AS: At this point I don't really have any artists that I wouldn't want to play with, or even dislike enough to say that I would specifically not want to perform with them.
AI: Im not too fussy ill work with anyone if they ask
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
AS: I've definitely experienced that in previous bands haha. The only thing I can say is just do your thing, the audience is there to listen to you do what you do, so just be yourself and let yourself own it!
AI: when I first played I suffered stage fright but see if you get yourself in the mindset of a happy place it becomes easier over time and if you can have a laugh etc and interact with the crowd it makes it a good night for everyone
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
AS: I'd definitely say that my main inspirations are Animals as Leaders, Born of Osiris and Periphery.
AI: Parkway Drive & Veil Of Maya
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
AI: A date and ended up being my two year current partner, weird as shit tbh xD
13. What do you think of your fans?
AS: I am entirely greatful of the support we've gotten so far!
AI: Hate em xD joking I respect and love them the fact they come out to support us means a lot and the fact we are getting this support allows us to do what we love is amazing thank you so much to all of you
14. What do you think of our site?
AS: Seems like a decently put together site!
AI: Very usefull it allows musicians to get out there and allows people to learn about the band and brings fans and artists together on a personal level
15. Something to add?
AS: Keep on groovin'!
AI: Start a band and have fun :)
