SIC VITA - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Alternative Rock band SIC VITA from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Our name came from a Henry David Thoreau poem that Jeff’s sister showed us when the band was first starting out. "Sic Vita" translates to "Such is Life" and that name just stuck with us.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
A lot of our influence can be “blamed” on bands that were around in the early 2000’s. We write our music with an open mind, but since most of our influences come from an alternative rock background, we tend to write that way.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Armand, Jeff, and Justin have known each other since high school, and even earlier. Though, it wasn't until Sic Vita when they all became really close friends.
4. Each band member favourite band?
The Receiving End of Sirens (Theo) Manchester Orchestra (Jeff) Taking Back Sunday (Spencer) Anberlin (Justin) Mae (Armand)
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We write songs about personal experiences. When something happens to any one of us that can’t be handled just through words, we write a song about the situation instead.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was actually our first of this year. It was at The Met in Rhode Island for War Games' CD release show. We took some time off to work on new music so it was really nice to see everyone come out and make it an epic night.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere that allows us to become really personal and connect with the audience. Large venues like House of Blues would be a blast, but even shows at smaller venues have their own addicting charisma to them.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
In our dream world, it would be amazing to share the stage with some of our greatest influences mentioned earlier! But more realistically, we just played a show with War Games which was a ton of fun, and it would be great to play with them again for sure.
9. Whom not?
Katy Perry, because we do not have enough dancing sharks.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
A few of us have had stage fright. It’s tough to get over but you just need to go out there and perform. The more you do it the easier it gets. Ask yourself, do you want to spend the rest of your life wondering “what if?”
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Other than our favorite bands, Circa Survive, Brand New, Saosin, Coheed and Cambria, Sleeping with Sirens, Death Cab for Cutie, and Four Year Strong. Oh, and everything else on our iPod’s.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To play more songs. Like, why would we want to do something we love and look forward to every day…
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are a part of this band as much as any one of us. It's a great feeling to create something and have people enjoy and connect with it as much as we did when we were writing it. Whatever we try doing, whether it's writing something a little different than usual or playing a show further away from home, our fans are there every step of the way. We couldn't ask for a better crowd.
14. What do you think of our site?
It's really awesome to see that there are still outlets supporting the indie/local music scene and this website does a great job of doing that!
15. Something to add?
First off, a big thanks to Breathing The Core for this opportunity! Also, a huuuuuge thank you to every friend, family member, fan, foe, and stranger who has supported or helped us in any way! It truly means so much to us when we see others who love us and our music so much that they support any way they can, even if it's just listening to a song. Lastly, we'd like to mention that we recently released our first music video for our single, "Ad Nauseam"! It was a great experience and the reaction has been overwhelmingly amazing so far! So, to anyone who hasn't heard us or seen us yet, definitely check it out! Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=edh2MPtTEU8
