Stab My Heart - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Post-Hardcore band Stab My Heart from Hong Kong, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

In Hong Kong, the Canto-pop or some music, songs' topics are always about Love/Break up or Sadness, so we hope to make something different like Twisted Love. Our first song’s name is same with the band name, called Stab My Heart, the story is about a girl has betrayed her boy, and the boy is so sad and mad and killed the girl then ate her, that means “i won’t let you go, you are mine"

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

Sulley : I think this genre can show the emotion which another genre cannot, for example, angry/despair, so this is the reason why i love this genre.

Alex : From the opinion behind the drumset, I love the riffs that listen-like losing the rhythm focus. And our songs tend to improvise lot that make me addicted a lot to.

Jeff : I think this genre has it's special emotion delivers to the audiences, which represents our beliefs,so that's why we love this genre.

Matt : “To get something to die for" is my personal motto. And Metalcore/ Post-hardcore music is exactly the "something" that i have been searching for. Its powerful yet a story to tell. Its completed and i enjoy the most.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Sulley : No, I just make an instrumental demo on youtube to show everyone and wait for each other. I had tried to post on some forums for bandmates recruitment, however, it didn’t work even for 3 years, so i then just tried to make a demo to show what I can do and which genre I hope to play.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Matt(Vocalist) :  Memphis may fire / Avenge sevenfold / Of mice & men / Jamie 's elsewhere

Sulley (Guitarist/BackingVocalist):  Memphis may fire / Sleeping With Sirens / ERRA / The Amity Affliction / Jamie 's elsewhere

Jeff (Guitarist) :  While She Sleeps / The Amity Affliction / Periphery.

Alex (Drummer) : Periphery / Animal as Leaders / Lamb of God / As I Lay Dying

Fowler (Bassist) :  Marcus Miller / Red Hot Chili Peppers /Suicide Silence

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Sulley : My favourite band and my emotion.

Alex : I seldom initiate a riff, but when I do, I play like Lars Ulrich. (LOL)

Jeff : Also my life experiences.

6. Where was your last gig?  

Joint University Campus Tour in Hong Kong in 2014

7. Where would you like to act?  

Everywhere, because we hope to share our music to the whole world. We truly believe music is a common language. In Hong Kong, music market or scene is niche and feedback is limited. It would build a solid experience for us to act outside Hong Kong, and gain much more exposure from other nationalities.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

Sulley : Anyone who need us. Personally I would like to have Matty Mullins(MMF) and Jesse cash(ERRA)

Alex : Metallica for SURE! My life time favourite band. If not applicable, Doris Yeh from Chthonic would be great.

9. Whom not?  

We won’t say no to anyone unless we don’t share the same view on music.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

We all have during the beginning, yet practice makes perfect. Let your body remember the feeling of playing music, and just focus and enjoy when you are on the stage. Don’t think too much about the crowd. If you enjoy, the crowd will enjoy.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sulley : Bullet for my valentine, because it is the band which make me love heavy music.

Alex : Shadows Fall, Dream Theater and Lamb of God.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

We still have no any weird things from anyone lol, we hope that the answer will come very soon lol.

13. What do you think of your fans?  

We are glad that someone enjoy our music! We hope our passion can burn their souls. We would consider they are our friends and family rather fans.

14. What do you think of our site?  

We think its freaking awesome! That's a great platform for sharing indie music.

15. Something to add?

We hope to share our music to the whole world, specially western, because Hong Kong is the place which have no any chance for heavy musics, so we need someone/something like Breathing The Core to help us, Stab My Heart needa opportunity to share and let everyone know.  We have a Lyrics video release coming soon, this is our first Demo, please Stay Tuned!
