Days Of The Phoenix - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Hardcore band Days Of The Phoenix from Uruguay, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Martín brought the idea for the name, it was inspired in an A.F.I.’s song but it contains the idea that we're living in a time of change and our society should come together instead of being so separated.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This is the result of metal roots and modern subgenres of hardcore together, those are our main influences. We feel that at this moment this genre is the best way to show all our feelings and thoughts, we‘re really comfortable with it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, Inti and Fabián used to play together in another band, Yamil and Martín had common friends and Sebastián was an old known of the metal scene in Uruguay.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Inti: Iron Maiden (I started listening metal with them and I started playing bass cause I love the style of Steve Harris), Death, Sepultura, Pantera, In Flames, Architects, As I lay Dying; and a long etc.
Fabián: Pink Floyd, when I was a child I started listening music with my father’s tapes of them. Talking about metal...At the Gates, creators of a style and uniques in power, melody and feeling.
Yamil: I’ve got influences of many genres, but I think in extreme music specifically it could be August Burns Red, For Today, The Number 12 Looks Like You, The Banner. And others maybe more on post hardcore like Alexisonfire, Underoath, Vanna.
Sebastián: Pantera, Death, Cynyc, Katatonia, The Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red.
Martin: Underoath, Lamb of God, The Used, Architects, Blink-182.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We try to be very straight forward, musically and lyrically. The lyrics are inspired in society, how its dogmas and barriers keep on separating us, when we are all one, and in our opinion, we should all be aware of that.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in Montevideo at Bj Sala, it was in occasion of the Wacken Metal Battle.
7. Where would you like to act?
At the moment our wish is to play in many cities of Latin America.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Well, we would like to feature with a lot of bands of our continent and it’ll be great to play with big bands of the genre too, we could learn a lot of those experiences.
9. Whom not?
We have not problems to play with any particular band.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
That's like an excitement, it's a good rush. It's one of the good feelings of going on stage. It's an energy anyone should use to concentrate and the moment of playing live. But if you mean like a panic attack, no we haven't hahah.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A lot of bands and in different styles!!! We could say that we have been inspired in stuff from melodic death metal to post-hardcore.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Till now nobody ask us nothing very weird, the people here in Uruguay is usually very demure.
13. What do you think of your fans?
It's hard to keep a band rolling on, but seeing that there is people that feel what you do is awesome is a great way to know you must be doing something right. That gives you strength to carry on.
14. What do you think of our site?
This site gives the chance to many new bands to show their work and tell about their stories and more. It is an opportunity that doesn’t give many media so we are very grateful with that.
15. Something to add?
We would like to thank you for the interview and to invite to your followers to download for free our first album “Our Fire” (http://daysofthephoenix.bandcamp.com/). We hope to act for you at any time!!!
