Throes - Interview

BANNERPUBLI

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Deathcore band Throes from Spain, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them.We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The naming process was really long and brooded as we wanted a short name that could define all the concepts behind the DNA of the band. So yes, it was really planned and it took a few months.

2.Why did you want to play this genre and did you know each other before the band was formed?

I started a metalcore/deathcore band when I was really young and we needed a bassist to complete the lineup. The guitar player of that band met Andrés accidentally and he asked him about joining the band. We were like 16/17 by then and that was the beginning of a strong friendship. That band splitted up after a year so Andrés and me decided to create something faster, darker and stronger adapting our mindset and our own vision about ellaborated metal music as the premise of this new project.

3. Each band member favourite band?

Difficult question to be honest and not that difficult. My favorite metal band is At The Throne Of Judgment for sure.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lyrically speaking we could say that dreams are the most inspiring element in every song of the album. I'm a guy that dreams a lot and I have been writing down the dreams I can remember even before creating this project. Dreams are more interesting than real life because they are uncontrollable and it makes those stories the purest representation of something that actually exists but it's unreachable and less plastic and cliché. Andrés, the one who creates the music, prefers to not going into details about this question.

5. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was sadly our first gig. We wanted our first show to be special because we spent three years practising our music in private. So we shaped that show from the beginning and we put everything in the making: naming, structure, promotion, design, lighting, etc. We tried to create hype to bring all the people that used to go to shows long back ago together at least one last time. Almost no one came, we lost a lot of money and trust in the people. Apart from that, the rest of the "scene" decided to ignore us as a band like if we were not existing and they kept creating and promoting shows between them without asking us not even a single time.

6. Where would you like to play?

In every place that has a good acoustic to be honest. It would be great to play in a theatre.

7. Whom would you like to feature with? Whom not?

Throes is a really personal project and we're not too much in that new trend of collaborating and featuring with different musicians. Not because we don't want to relate with anyone but we see that as something purely related with promotional endeavours. Of course we would not mind to make a feature with a really brutal vocalist or including some guest solo of a really skilled guitar player in our album but we have never thought about that possibility too much to be honest.

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We're not too experienced in live issues but of course we have a great and simple tip. Practise your songs as many times as possible before scheduling a show. If you feel that the set has been sounding 95% perfect the last three or four rehearsal days before the show you will play, you will feel confident and ready to destroy the stage.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

We call those bands something like "The elite bands from the old school deathcore times". Sounds strange to refer as "old school" to a genre that is still feeling like almost new but we realised that we still in love with those bands that were killing the game back in 2006. Bands like At The Throne Of Judgment, Brother Von Doom, From The Shallows and even some others that still playing music like The Black Dahlia Murder, Within The Ruins, Veil Of Maya and some few others.

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We never had one of those fans that goes crazy with your band. We wish we had but no one has asked for more than a simple picture or some average stuff that we already know about.

11. What do you think of your fans?

Maybe sounds cliché too but as a really unknown band created in a corner of a country that no one cares about, we feel really blessed when someone discovers our music and tell us that he's really into it. We can feel for a moment that we're doing something worth for some people or we can feel that this guy/girl is feeling the same as we feel when we discover a really cool band.

12. What do you think of our site?

It looks sharp and easy to navigate in it. We discover a few spanish bands in your site that we never heard about before so we think you're doing a really interesting job.

13. Something to add?
