Intervuews: Moralist

In this new occasion we had the great opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore band Moralist from UK. We have nothing more to say than enjoy this interview and like their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name Moralist came from personal changes we have made, to be better people, to live better lives. To be the kind of people we ourselves can be proud of. To live with integrity, moral fairness, and hope.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

A lot of melodic hardcore out there carries a positive message. One of not giving up and of bettering yourself and I guess I wanted to further that message using my own experiences and knowledge.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We've each been connected through friends, from being in past musical projects together or through previous members. Marcus and George are childhood mates, Stu and George met through a previous band as with Stu and Mike and Gage was brought in by a previous member when the band first started out.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Stu - hard to pin just one at the moment but a couple I'm loving currently are Casey and Wage War!

George -   Alexisonfire. Always. Everything they've ever done is flawless to me and they've been a band that has always stayed with me growing up. They've been a massive inspiration to me.

Mike - This is a hard one if it was metal it has to be kill switch engage their riffs are intense! But pop punk is my baby so the story so far takes it all

Marcus - My preference of band changes probably by the week but at the moment counterparts are at the top. Mainly because of their use of ambient rhythms and strong lyrics.

Gage - There's too many to just have one but if I could narrow it down to 3 I'd have to say Metallica, 36 crazyfists and while she sleeps

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our desire to write and play our own songs comes from just listening to music. The effect it can have on you, and the way it can help you through your darker days. Music is a powerful tool, and if something that we've written can help people in the same way it's helped us, then we'll be happy.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was at Portsmouth's Edge of the Wedge, opening for locals Networks alongside, Tonight We Fall, Forever In Depths and Cardinal Bay! It was a great show!

7. Where would you like to act?

If there's people who want to see our band, we don't care where it is, we want to travel and play in new and different places, not just one set location.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Casey, Counterparts, Being as An Ocean, Deez Nuts or any band that reflects the same sort of thing we do and can put on a good fun show!

9. Whom not?

Any band that portrays the wrong message or are just general dicks to members of the crowd or other bands. Ain't nobody got time for that.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stu - I always get quite nervous and anxious before playing, but once I get on the stage, I tend to loosen up a bit and have fun! The most important thing to remember is to just have fun, as long as you're happy and content doing what you're doing then that's the most important thing. Confidence goes along way with crowds, they respond better to a confident front man and band in general. Confidence is key!

George -  I think everyone suffers from nerves when it comes to standing in front of people and performing, I do, but the best way is to just get up there, get on with it, and have a good time Mike - Just be confident in what you have written, there's no shame in that at all just go with the flow.

Marcus - Personally speaking not really. As a band we must've all had moments in the early days but with experience we've all managed to get over any preexisting fears and as a band work on each other's positive vibes Gage - Yeah before every show! But I find once we're playing I feel more relaxed and just try to do my best and have fun I guess.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Alexisonfire, bands like Climates when they were together, The Ghost Inside, Counterparts, Hundredth, Lower Than Atlantis, the list goes on!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Currently nothing, thank god!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone who gives us time of day and listens to what we put out gets massive thanks from us. It's great to hear people's views on our music good or bad.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's always great to see people putting themselves out to help any band promotional wise, after all getting word out for your band these days is difficult especially when you first start out!
