Interviews: UNRAVEL
In this new occassion we have had the pleasure to interview the Melodic Hardcore band UNRAVEL, from Czech Republic. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It acutally came out just like that, because I liked the name of that Hundredth's song. It doesn't have actual meaning in general but everyone could find one by themselves. It's short, kinda catchy and good to remember.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Radek: I think, for the band it's just the way to express themselves, so they play what they like to play. For me it's more personal. I always loved this kind of music because of it's lyrics so I could relate to them. That's basically what I write. Maybe someone could relate to our music as well. My guys write perfect instrumentals for my lyrics to be honest.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We did actually. Písek is small city so everyone knows everyone. Me (Radek) and Kuba went to the same class in high school. We had a band like four years ago, but it didn't work too well. So we formed Unravel with Kuba and our bassist Ondra (we knew him from local shows and shit). Then we've found Vojta. He played drums in other band. So we just stole him. Assholes. Same thing happened to us with Láďa, we stole him from another band as well. Assholes (2). Láďa is actually our second guitarist, there was friend of us Honza, that we didn't know before. He played with us like year and a half. But yeah, as a present squad we knew each other from shows and clubs.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Radek: I have been digging Counterparts so much, they are like my number one the most favourite band. But lately I fell in love with The 1975.
Ondra: Being As An Ocean
Láďa: Adept
Vojta: It's hard to name one, but mainly Tool and Caspian
Kuba: I don't know, I do really enjoy instrumental bands (guitars yo), Periphery is sick as fuck.
Kuba: I don't know, I do really enjoy instrumental bands (guitars yo), Periphery is sick as fuck.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We just love to play music. Music inspires us the most.
Radek: Personal issues. I write about myself and about problems related to me or my surroundings. Dealing with anxiety, depression and stuff. But I try to write it more metaphorically so anyone could relate to it.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in this little Café "U Vavřiny". Skateboarding season just started in Písek. So it was like afterparty for the people that enjoy skateboarding and music. We played with two other punk/trash/hardcore bands. It was actually solid show. People went really crazy in front of the stage. Though the entry was free we did recieve some cash. Also, the fans and bands were really cool.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere. Literally anywhere as long as people would dig our music. Of course we would like to play abroad, to interact more people and show them what this small Czech band has to offer.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
It doesn't matter to us to be honest. We love to play with bands that its members are not total bossy dickheads. Also we'd really enjoy playing with bands with similiar music genre. (Counterparts, Empty Handed, Eminem etc..)
9. Whom not?
As I said. With total bossy dickheads.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
All of us still do. I don't know, we're always nervous before the gig. Maybe even through the first song. But after that, we become more chilled and just do what we do. Just keep doing what you're doing and enjoy your show. Drunk people don't care haha.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
If you mean for this music genre it were probably:
Radek: Landscapes, More Than Life and Vices
Ondra: Being As An Ocean
Láďa: Parkway Drive, Adept
Vojta: Our band.... and Defeater
Kuba: August Burns Red Though if you mean in music in general. It were bands like blink-182, Sum 41, Papa Roach, Story Of The Year etc. You get the picure. First year of high school yo!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing so far. We'll see in the future. We're kinda worried.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have none. Nah I'm joking. Our fans are really supportive and patient. They were waiting for our EP like two years. Still keep showing up at shows so that's nice.
14. What do you think of our site?
Love it! It's perfect place for small young bands to express themselves and maybe get noticed by some people. I know I've found shitload of great bands here.
15. Something to add?
Go to your local shows. Support your local scene. Love yourselves and keep reading Breathing The Core. Cheers!
