Interviews: Divide Paths

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Deathcore band Divide Paths, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It's the name of a Veil of Maya song. my vocalist and I are big veil fans, so we wanted to name the project after one of their songs that wasn't very popular. So if you don't listen to them, you probably would'nt know it's a Veil song.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

I just wanted to do something that no one else in Washington was doing. I wanted to stick out. And it's fun yet challenging music to play live.   3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  A: yes, I've known Jesse (our drummer) and Zach (vocalist) for a few years. Those two have known each other much long than I have, I think they even went to elementary school together. And I've known our bassist, Stuart since I was 15, we started our first metal band together my freshman year.

4. Each band member favourite band?

That's a tough one. It's nearly impossible to bottleneck it to just one. As far as bands and artists go:

Zack: The Weeknd, Between the Buried and Me, and Getter.

Jesse: The Black Dahlia Murder, Twelve Foot Ninja and Black Crown Initiate.

Stuart: Devin Townsend, Savant and Nobou Uematsu.

Zach: Killswitch Engage, Behemoth, and Septic Flesh

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

TV shows usually. I get a lot of inspiration to compose from shows like True Detective, Dexter or Game of Thrones. Usually it comes from a badass quote or gnarly scene, and that just triggers me to start writing.

6. Where was your last gig?

We actually haven't played a single live show as Divide Paths yet. We've only been playing as a full band four maybe four months. So we're still in the process of learning the tracks from our EP to play live.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere outside of Washington. I and the other members of my band have played here enough!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I'd love to do something with Getter.

9. Whom not?

There's really nothing out of my realm I wouldn't like to collab on. Maybe some country artist.

10. Any of you have ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We haven't played all together yet so we haven't had the chance, but Jesse and I were in another band for a few years together and we never fought on stage. I'd just say make sure you're friends before band mates. That way you'll know how to actually settle something professionally before letting it get out of hand.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Contortionist, Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Soreption, Veil of Maya and Periphery, I'd say.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well, we don't get asked many exciting things. It's usually,"when's the album coming out","are you making physicals" or "do you know Lucas Mann". Sometimes people ask for free merch, but I give it to them so it's not that weird.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I love them. I just wish their were more I could give the people that listen to and support this band, it means the world to me.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's really cool, I was really flattered when you guys shared the EP. I honestly don't think I'd heard of it before because I don't really follow core music at all whether it be hardcore, metalcore or even deathcore. I checked out the website when you shared Penance and actually enjoyed it, there needs to be more underground coverage like you guys.

15. Something to add?

Just want to give a thank you to you guys for wanting to do this interview. Also, Divide Paths will be up playing shows in the Pacific Northwest as well as California later this year so keep those eyes out.
