Interviews: Our Darkest Days

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Punk Rock/Skate Punk/Hardcore band Our Darkest Days, from Canada. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Vince: The name of the band comes from the idea that our songs are about the dark side of the human being. The message is positive, but we focus on the issues that we all have. Some of us had a rough past, and it was a must to put it on paper, and all the struggles that we once had to deal with. Everyone have problems and we know it, so the lyrics are pretty much easy to reach, and feel concerned about.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Vince: We have been listening to punk rock since forever. We are very passionate about it and we always have been, so it's obvious for us that we wouldn't play anything other than what we really love and care about.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Vince: Yes. Danny, Jam and I have known each other for more than 20 years, and we have played music together for a long time before the band was formed. Guillaume has known Jam for a long time too, and John joined a couple years after but already knew the band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Vince: Propagandhi
Dan: Strung Out,
Jam: No Use For A Name
Guillaume: Lagwagon
John: Belvedere

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Vince: Life itself.

6. Where was your last gig?

Vince: In Quebec City with Millencolin & Such Gold, it was rad!

7. Where would you like to play?

Vince: We like to play as much in smaller as we do in larger places. The feeling is different. What is good in small gigs, is that we have a closeness to the crowd. We love interacting with people in front of us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Vince: Having Denis Buckley from 88 Fingers Louie to be featured on our album is a dream come true right now, but we'll go with Chris Hannah from Propagandhi!

9. Whom not?

Vince: Hm... Donald Trump or Drake?

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

John: My first show in the band was with Millencolin. All I could think of was not missing notes and forgetting some parts. Being on a big stage with a huge crowd can be very stressful. The best tip I could give is to not only stay focused and be well prepared, but more importantly to have fun. That's what punk rock is about.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Vince: Propagandhi, Strung Out, Lagwagon, 88 Fingers Louie, Good Riddance, No Use For A Name, NOFX, Ignite, Belvedere.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Vince: We have been asked for the same encore three times in a row at the end of a show.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Vince: They fucking rock. We have a huge respect toward them for liking us for who we are, and for allow us to make music that we love.

14. What do you think of our site?

Vince: A very cool and complete site, you guys are doing a very great job!

15. Something to add?

Vince: We are grateful to do what we love. We are proud of the results that gave A Common Agony, but we will not stop there! Thank you for the interview.
