Interviews: Miscreant

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal/Metalcore band Miscreant, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

When I(Harvey) was in my old band when I lived in Glasgow we always used to have parties and the neighbours used to always say we were just a bunch of “Miscreants” and then when the music was first written it kinda was mentioned and then it just felt right! So yeah here we are!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve always played heavy music in bands but none of us had ever been apart of something this intense or serious! But we all knew this was something more from the start!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Myself(Harvey) and Massie knew each other back when we used to live in Aberdeen, where we’re both originally from! We used to play gigs together in our old bands and would be out drinking with the same people, then eventually came together to make Miscreant what it is today. I then auditioned Jake when we were looking for a bassist back in 2015 and the rest is history with that! Then after our original drummer left at the start of the year we went looking for a new drummer instantly and eventually found George. We’ve all been friends ever since!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Well mine(Harvey) has to be My Chemical Romance! One band I’ve always loved and admired! Massie loves the classics such as Guns N Roses, Jake’s has to be Enter Shikari which is an amazing choice also! Then George loves Architects, which how can you not?

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

For me it’s bands like The Plot In You! As Landon Tewers is my favourite song writer and everything the Plot In You has done is golden too! Massie loves Steve Clarke from Def Leppard! He’s the reason he plays guitar in the first place! Jake is very much inspired all round by Nirvana and George gets all of his inspiration from Stick To Your Guns and The Ghost Inside

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Lincoln the other week with Borders! Which was awesome because Borders are the best dudes and a killer band!

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to play anywhere and everywhere! As the long as the opportunity is right we’ll do what it takes to play as many shows as we can! The idea of playing any new place is always cool. Plus no matter where you play, it’s always nice when you have no idea what to expect, keeps it interesting!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to play more shows with the guys in Loathe, Faces Of Eve and whoever else may come across our path! So many great bands in the UK and generally overseas touring bands out there, we just feel privileged we’ve been able to play with some awesome bands so far and can’t wait to play with even more.

9. Whom not?

I don’t think there’s any bands that we wouldn’t want to play with. We’ve even played a show supporting MC Devvo, so we can say we’ve defiantly had a few “out of place” shows here or there! Which is always fun to do from time to time.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We did a little when we were younger! But we’ve all been playing shows in different bands for years now so it’s gotten easier for us all over time. We always just try and get into a clear mindset before we play, we’ll get each other pumped up before we go on! It kinda flushes out any nerves. A few drinks here or there before definitely helps too!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As a band we’re very much inspired by bands like Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, The Plot In You! But there are so many great bands that inspire us. But to be honest we always just look out for inspiration from different kinda artists, even if they’re not necessarily a metal band, even other genres of music inspire us!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We get people tell us how much they love our intensity on stage. I had one guy come up to me once and say “That was the most weird and disturbing performance I’ve ever seen but I loved every second of it” our live show is definitely an experience to say the least!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are the best and have been so patient with us! It’s always awesome when we receive messages and have people talk to us at shows about our set or our music! We truly treasure every kind word said. We make sure to stay active and always keep our fans up to date with everything we’re doing. If it wasn’t for them buying our music, repping our merch and coming to shows.. We would be nothing so we can’t thank them enough!

14. What do you think of our site?

What you guys do is amazing! It’s things like BTC that help give bands the chance to get out there and connect with a bigger audience and it’s amazing how hard you’ve all worked to keep BTC growing! We are thankful for the opportunity we’ve had to be interviewed by you guys, so thank you!
