Interviews: New Lingo

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alertnative Rock band New Lingo, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name? 

We were trying to figure out a band name and I think Johnny heard the lyric "new lingo" in an Aerosmith song. So in a way, Steven Tyler came up with the idea for a band name. 

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

We had all grown up and been inspired by a lot of different rock bands and kind of formed our style around what we have grown up on. 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Ryan and Joe met in grade school but met Johnny years later in the local scene. It was a few years after that we formed New Lingo.

4. Each band member’s favourite band? 

Joe - Glassjaw

Johnny - Taking Back Sunday

Ryan - Huey Lewis and The News

Nathan - Alkaline Trio

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Usually we write all of the instrumentation to the point where we can call it complete and then I just play the song until I figure out what I think it should be about. Then I reflect on personal experiences, sometimes multiple at a time to match the tone.

6. Where was your last gig? 

It was at the Firebird in St. Louis. It was our EP release show. It was an awesome night.

7. Where would you like to play? 

Everywhere! I would love to tour another country though!

8. Whom would you like to tour with? 

Taking Back Sunday. 

9. Who would you not want to tour with? 

People who are shitheads.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

I have suffered from stage fright. I feel like everyone gets it at first. I just had to keep going out until I was comfortable.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

I would have to say Dredg, Glassjaw and As Tall As Lions.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

One time a fan traded me samples of penis enlargement pills for a shirt. I covered it. That guy probably can't buy anything else with those and they obviously don't work. If they did why would he trade them for a shirt?

13. What do you think of your fans? 

I think my fans are awesome. They keep me happy on the worst days sometimes.
