Interviews: Octopus Montage
In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Easycore/Pop Punk band Octopus Montage from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like
that?
The band's name came out of a rather NSFW joke about one of our members (of which I
won’t name!) liking a certain type of adult content… That’s as far as I will go!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I can only talk for myself but the genre just sums up my mindset about how life works, you
know? Sometimes you can be angry, hence the screaming within the music, sometimes
you’re happy, e.g the poppy side of our music, and our lyrics generally speak about times
in our lives that may have been difficult or hold some form of importance to us. I’d like to
think our music is an extension of who we are.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Dec and Davina are brother and sister so them guys kinda knew each other! Myself and
Cain met at primary school, he then went on to meet the rest of the guys at high school. I
then met Davina at college and Dec at a gig. I guess that's the beauty of living in a small
town.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Past and present life experiences inspire a lot of if not all of our songwriting. I think songwriting and music, in general, is a release for us, I know it definitely is for me. I think this is
quite a healthy release for usw, it allows us to sort of letting out what's been going on when we
maybe don’t want to talk about it as such.
6. Where was your last gig?
ForresFest - Forres, Scotland
7. Where would you like to perform?
Is main-stage at Download a bit of a push?!?
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
I’d absolutely love to play alongside Slipknot.
I think the energy and performance, let alone the music would be an absolute blast! It
would be awesome for us to play alongside A Day To Remember or blink-182 as they
have influenced a lot of our music!
9. Whom not?
Nickelback - Just couldn’t deal with hearing ‘Photograph’ live, to be honest.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to
beat that?
Luckily I don’t think any of us have suffered from stage fright. my only advice
would be to go out and do it, once you're on stage you start to develop a feeling of being
from there. The more you do it the less nervous you will become.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I’ve been asked on a date
with a fan if that counts as weird!?!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love them, they’re some of the nicest and most supportive people we have ever met.
