Interviews: HELIVS

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band HELIVS from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name HELIVS (pronounces He-Lee-Us) came to us when we were looking to name the band after a Greek. After looking at some ideas, branding and logo variations we came up with HELIVS.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I grew up listening to rock music, and it’s one of the genres I feel I can most express myself. I also feel rock music is one of the few genres where instrumentally and in terms of composition, you can integrate all other genres. If you want to have EDM bass drops, you can add them. If you want the production to add exotic instruments, you can do it, if you want to add metal riffs with melodic modern pop-rock hooks, classical guitar licks you can. So basically I get to play all the genres I like in one by playing rock music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ironically the original bassist the band has been formed with, no longer in the project, used to tour with my previous project as a full in. I went to school as a teenager with Ron the drummer's wife, and Brandon my guitarist was my college professor’ a son. So in a way, we kinda knew each other, but not like we do now where we are all a family.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Cristina - Definitely the band Red!

Brandon - Alter Bridge

Rob - Sevendust

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life... the good the bad, the ugly, the most precious. Being able to be a positive influence by inspiring others by our experiences and how we have overcome all the obstacles thrown at us, is what inspires us.

6. Where was your last gig?

Currently our last gig was at Rockfest in Cadott, Wisconsin. Festival was great...tornadoes not so much for us Floridians.

7. Where would you like to act?

One of our goals for performing is definitely Shiprocked in the future. I’m willing to take all the motion sickness meds in the world to play haha!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I think we all have different opinions on that, but I think it matches pretty closely with our favorite bands.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we have all had stage freight at one point or another, the best way to handle it for us has been just getting up remember the message you are conveying in your music, and do your thing. After the first 5 minutes typically you get so into your craft that the fright just goes away.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Same as above doe favorite bands.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

As I sit at the merch table the autograph of the singer that was just on stage...typically me, the only difference is I put on a ball cap after every show to control my insane head banging hair. This is then followed by apologies after they notice, and saying “you look so much taller on stage and in the pictures”. I’m 5’1” and I think the Driver License people gave me the extra inch to make me feel better haha!

12. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans!! So much so we usually end up trading gamer tags to keep in the loop with them on our gaming systems. Yes, we are all big gamers here. A lot of our fans get so surprised when bands they like take the time to still touch base after shows.

13. What do you think of our site?

It is always great to see sites that support music and put the word out for more fans! Without you guys it would be difficult to share our art.

14. Something add?

Check us out at www.HELIVS.com, social media sites, and every digital outlet media is sold! Thank you!
