Interviews: Black Income

In this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Stoner Rock band Black Income from Norway. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We didn't plan it, and we were just fooling around with different names when we started out, We thought the name Black Income was quite funny, with the whole non taxing thing, but as time went by it became more and more serious to us, and when we came to think about it, it was more the only weapon for people to use against the system, and it became more and more relevant since we have a lot of realism in our songs.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't go for a specific genre when we started out, it just came together naturally as we jammed along. But as we started out we wanted to do a more punk and stoned alternative to Hardrock know today, and we wanted to keep it melodic at the same time, so the was the foundation of our songwriting and our sound.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we knew each other from different band projects, and we have played together on and off for many years.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Henrik is more of Black Sabbath and Fu Manchu kinda guy, Lars lean touch different kinda Rock Metal bands, like Metallica and newer bands like Dinosaur Pile-Up... Michael is of the more experimental and alternative scene like Sonic Youth and bands like that.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The drive of riffs and the grooves is what inspires us on the music part, you need to able to feel the music, it is supposed to get you moving….out lyrics takes off in realism and a more deep dive into feelings and personal issues... we try to create a universe for every song we write.

6. Where was your last gig?

Ohh it’s nearly a year ago now a Festival in Denmark, we have been working in the studio the past year...

7. Where would you like to perform?

We are a festival kinda band, we make people rock out… so we’re getting things together for a tour in 2020… news later this year...

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Real bands.. like the Foo Fighters could be awesome… love the band and the way they perform live.

9. Whom not?

All Jam bands and Copy cats… they ruin the rock scene and take up space in the venues that could be useful to new original bands.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, not really, guess we have played to many gigs… but one thing you can do… Go on stage and do you F…… best.. if you put yourself out there people will notice, and also as the crowd is with you, there is no stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sure we have a long line of bands who inspired us along the way, we took some of the elements from the ’90s, with bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana, but we also have a more stoned feel in our music and riffs from bands like Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu…. Many people think we have an Alice In Chains kinda vibe.. but that's not something we aim to do, it just happens...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Haha.. we played a venue in Germany on time, and we sold some merch and stuff after the gig… but there was this one guy, who bought our Noise Pollution vinyl, and he wanted all our teeth marks in the corners of the cover… so we all had to bite it.. haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

We have very passionate fans, and we are very grateful for that.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site Rock’s bigtime… you do a lot for the upcoming scene, and that's where inspiration and new waves live… that's great.. we need more like this...

15. Something to add?

Year make sure to check out our new album unSOUND out august 23, and we have a new video out for the single Loaded Gun at the same time… so make sure to check us out…

Thx for having us STAY ROCK \m/
