Interviews: This Room Is Alive

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band This Room Is Alive from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

This Room Is Alive went through constant member and name changes until it was set in 2014 by Altner, Fruppen and our old vocalist using our own name-finding-tradition, called song-/bandname bingo.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

All of us aim for playing the music we would like to listen to ourselves. Since we are all some metal nerds, oldschool metalcore/deathcore is always our first go to when it comes to writing songs.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The original formation is based around our guitar players Altner and Fruppen, who know each other for quite a long time now. Every other member was stolen from other local bands throughout the years until we set the current line up in 2018 with Tim joining as the new vocalist.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Concerning the genre we play, our all time favorites would be The Black Dahlia Murder, Parkway Drive, Make Them Suffer, A Wake In Providence and many, many more.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Since we all have quite different tastes in metal music it's always a big variety of influences concerning the instrument section of the band reaching from nu-metal and hip hop every now and then over to melodic death metal and all forms of core. Lyricwise it's everyday and personal bullshit, like the results of being stressed out to the limit, abusing "the substances", social grievances of the region we live in, loss in general and many more things we can't get of our chest elsewise but in a musical way. That said, our main influences are Elvis Presley, Alexis Texas and Memes

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was a small and private hometown show in Halle (Saale), Germany where we are from. It was some kind of new years party and very intimate... we love gigs like this.

7. Where would you like to act?

We love to play every stage that's offered to us. It doesn't matter if it's a clubshow, festival, open air or whatever, as long as the crowd goes apeshit we'd love to be there!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would like to feature CJ McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder, Fronz from Attila and all of the guys from Rammstein, especially Flake Lorenz because he looks like our bass player

9. Whom not?

Being as an Ocean, because they have stolen our band name for one of there songs.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Basti our drummer suffers from stage fright all the time and he has the following tips for you: there are no tips, just consume enough energy drinks and play as fast as you can, so the gig doesn't last that long.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Trivium (Fruppen), Nirvana (Altner), Caliban (Basti), Parkway Drive (Paul), Korn (Tim)

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Can you play any faster? That was a question once asked at a small gig a few years ago by a drunk crowd member. And of course our answer was playing fast as hell!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Beside having fun ourselves and play the music we like, our fans and the constant love and support they show us are the reason for us doing this. Mad respect and love to all of them. Old ones, new ones and future fans!

14. What do you think of our site?

We love that your site is supporting small underground and local bands, so they can get their names sout there. That's really fucking tight because this kind of support gets really rare in a more and more industrialized music business. So please keep doing what you do! Much respect and love!

15. Something add?

Click the link above and push our music so we can afford more beer! Just kidding, thanks to Breathing the Core for having us. Check us out. It doesn't matter if you like it or not, but at least give us the chance to rock your socks off .
