Interviews: COLPOCLEISIS

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Slam band COLPOCLEISIS from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

"The name came about when Ste was starting up the band with Karl (previous drummer). He wanted the name to be a medical term that consisted of one word and came across 'Colpocleisis'. This seemed to coincide with the style of music that they wanted to create.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

"We all have different tastes in music such as Nu Metal, Goregrind/Pornogrind, Death Metal, Black Metal, Metalcore, Prog Rock, Classic Rock, Rap/Hip Hop, Blues and Classical but as a whole we are all big on the Death Metal scene which is what we settled on"

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

"Yes - We all know each other from playing shows together in bands that we are currently in/have been in previously"

4. Each band member favourite band?

"That's a tough one as we all love so many different bands so we went for a top 5 from each member.

Joe: Deftones Primus Glassjaw Don Broco Cephalic Carnage

Jon: Defeated Sanity Neurosis Dillinger Escape Plan Disgorge Converge

Lewis: Megadeth Racer X The Black Dahlia Murder Fugazi Wormrot

Ste: Fear Factory Rammstein Behemoth Cannibal Corpse Dying Fetus

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

"Writing usually comes down to three main things. Listening to similar music, reading about unusual accidents/news headlines and of course the general love of doing what we do"

6. Where was your last gig?

"Our last show was in Moscow, Russia. We played Coyote Brutal Fest along with our friends in Crepitation and Scordatura"

7. Where would you like to act?

"We would love to tour the US and Asia, we've heard many great things and have many fans over there and it would be incredible to travel over to give our fans the opportunity to see us"

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

"We would love to do shows or tour with the likes of Devourment, Internal Bleeding, Origin, Weekend Nachos, Knocked Loose, Hate Diplomacy and Dying Fetus. Can you imagine that line-up?!"

9. Whom not?

"So far, only one act has crossed our line when it comes to featuring with but we're not the type to mention names or cause issues."

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

"Everyone deals with pre-show nerves but when things go wrong either before or during a show, that's when the stress and anxiety really kicks in. The best thing to do is to keep focused and to continue on. Panic, stress or scream afterwards but keep it together on stage because people have come to see you and they don't want to see drama or arguements during your show. Some people like to have a drink or smoke beforehand to settle the nerves, others will warm up, stretch or jump about to loosen up. As long as you go out there with a level head then you'll be fine! But never go on stage drunk, if you care about what you do and you want to play well then don't over indulge. One or two to help feel a bit relaxed but don't put yourself in a position were you are unable to perform well"

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

"The list is endless on bands that have inspired us, there are so many bands across the whole metal scene (not just death metal) that over the years have given us the motivation to do what we do. To name a few from the particular sub genre we do are; Devourment, Dying Fetus, Cephalotripsy, Cerebral Incubation, Defeated Sanity, Myocardial Infarction and Vomit Remnants"

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

"Not so much as a weird request but we were asked by a woman to sign her chest after a show in France to which there wasn't a marker pen in sight and so a ball-point pen that wasn't working very well was used! Not the weirdest request but we await the day..."

13. What do you think of your fans?

"They're awesome! We receive a great deal of positive feedback from them and love seeing them go insane during our shows! The support is incredible and we're extremely grateful!"

14. What do you think of our site?

Great content covering a vast range of metal genres. Track by track walk throughs and focus sections which are really interesting.

15. Something add?

"To our followers, thank you for the support and keep it up! We will continue to write brutal death metal as long as you continue to stay brutal
