Interviews: In Dreamers' Mind

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, In Dreamers' Mind from Poland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were looking for a name that would suit the music we play and ourselves. I remember it took us a couple of days, we had several options to choose from and we found "In Dreamers' Mind" to be the best of them.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We always create and play as we feel. We don't like to limit ourselves in our music, we like to mix styles and try new things while keeping our natural style. You will be able to hear post-rock elements on our new EP.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we have known each other for fourteen years, we played together for several years in my first band "Lizard Tea". Some time ago we wanted to do some music together again, but we focused only on the studio project.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jarek's favorite bands are: Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Machine Head, Bruce springsteen. As for me, I usually listen to Japanese bands and all the time broaden my musical horizons, from which I draw inspiration. But if I had to mention it would be: X-Japan, Dir en Gray, One ok Rock, Scandal, Ellegarden, Nocturnal Bloodlust. But lately, I listen to a lot of electronic music like EDM, Dubstep or Darkstep. So music quite different from what we create (laugh).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Actually, there are no specific things or people that inspire you. Well, maybe it's women sometimes (laught). But the willingness and ideas to create come rather unexpectedly.

6. Where was your last gig?

As "In Dreamers' Mind" we don't play concerts, we are a studio project, we only focus on creating and recording.

7. Where would you like to act?

My dream is to do a tour in Asia (laught). But as I said before, we are a studio project.

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think everyone felt more or less stressed before the show. Most of the time, the stress appeared during the performance, and after the first contact with the stage it rather faded away. When you handle it properly, you can turn stress into positive energy that will give you confidence.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

The musician who inspired me the most to develop as a guitarist and to create music was Alexi Laiho, vocalist and guitarist of Children of Bodom, who unfortunately passed away not long ago ... (R.I.P.). John Petrucci from Dream Theater also had a great influence on shaping me as a musician. Then my adventure with Japanese bands started with X-Japan. Yoshiki's compositions had a huge impact on the music who i compose today. The musician who inspired Jarek the most was Steave Digiorgio, (Death, Testament, Control Danied, and most of all his playing Quo Vadis). And Robert Trujilo (Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Black Label Society).

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Jarek was asked to show his ass on stage ... and he showed (laught). As for me, fans sometimes wanted to feed me with alcohol when I was played a solo, and they did it a couple of times.

11. What do you think of your fans?

We are a studio project, so we can only gain fans via the Internet, among others thanks to sites like yours. After the release of our first EP, we got a lot of kind words, for which we would like to thank everyone!

12. What do you think of our site?

We think you are doing a very good job promoting music like ours. Thanks to you, more people can hear about us and similar bands, which is very important to us, because it is helpful in achieving some success.

13. Something add?

Look forward to our second EP "Ethereal" coming out at the turn of spring and summer. There will be some post-rock elements and other things that made us want to create something fresh and interesting for the audience. Thanks for the interview and cheers!
