Interviews: Purbawara


On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Purbawara from Malaysia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

The band originally named "Bloody Situations" from 2013 to 2017, then decided to rename it as "Purbawara" in 2018 for the release of the first album "Aphorism". The name "Purbawara" was suggested by an old friend who also in a band called "Daarchlea"

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Melodic death metal is a genre strong suited for the theme of songwriting. Fast-paced with symphony and orchestral sound. We like to infused a fusion of "Nusantara" and oriental-style music

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band members are originally formed in "Bloody Situatiohs"-era. Then when "Purbawara" was formed, only 2 of the original founding members (lead guitar & drummer) are still active. A new bassist joined together rhythm guitarist from "Dexolated Asylum". Lastly the original vocalist left before the first album launch. Was replaced with a vocalist from the band "Daarchlea" Current lineup;

Mohd Syafiq - Alterbeast

Nazreen bazli - Shadow Of Intent

Muhamad Yusnor - The Black Dahlia Murder

Mohd Nur Yusuf - Cattle Decapitation

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our lyrics are inspired by the current affairs of the world whether in the view of reality or religiously. Songwriting is inspired by many factors but will always keep the roots of death metal with fusions of "Nusantara", oriental,etc.

6. Where was your last gig?

28 Feb 2020, Gegey Fest in Malaysia

7. Where would you like to act?

US, Europe, Japan, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Probably musicians from all our favorite bands

9. Whom not? 

No comment

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Not at all. Take a deep breath, let the music flow into you. Everything comes naturally.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

All of our favorite bands

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Are we black metal? Are we preaching to God or Satan?

13. What do you think of your fans?

Most of our fans are really supportive. They love to ask a lot of questions regarding our lyrics. It makes them want to explore deeper into the meanings and find the interpretation for them to understand fully.

14. What do you think of our site?

We find it interesting to see a blog site that actively has new information from bands all around the world. We stumble upon BTC by looking up to keyword of "Malaysia Metal"

15. Something add?

We hope to see more music listeners around the world engaging in our music. Different in culture and language engaging with us through social media or other formats of communication/platform. We also hope to see BTC will be able to or host live interviews or other forms of media to their audience.
