Interviews About Albums: Paradise Now - We Never Die (2021)

1. Hey guys, thanks for this interview. First of all can you introduce yourself and the band to our readers?

Thank you for having us! We’re Paradise Now – brothers, Sam (lead singer) & Ben (guitar) with their childhood friend Nathan (drums).

2. What can you say about your upcoming album "We Never Die"? What’s the best introduction for this debut album?

A collection of songs that summarise the first stage of our lives as a band. Despite the setbacks, no matter how long it takes or how long the journey, we won’t stop. We never die.

3. Can you explain us the meaning of the title “We Never Die”?

When our time on earth is up, our legacy lives on. No matter what you believe about the afterlife, we never die.

4. The visual concept is very interesting, from the artwork to your pictures, with a dark mood. How is important this type of content (visual/artwork) for a project like yours?

We love the artwork! The skull was originally designed by Bryce Wong, famously known for creating sneakers with Nike. We collaborated with him to show paradise in the midst of the skull. To us it accurately represents what we stand for - no matter how much darkness, decay and death there is around you, there’s always a bit of paradise and hope to be found.

5. The first single taken from the album was “I Hope It Never Ends”, an excellent example of alt-rock with pop elements. Do you agree with my point of view? Why was this song as the first single?

Yeah, we love to program huge, dark, pop sounds. Ben does all of our programmings and it adds another dimension to what we do. We grew up listening to Linkin Park and loved the other flavors they were adding to their big rock sound. We love the journey that this song goes on. We tried to cut sections to shorten it but felt like everything was so intentional that we didn’t want to throw away any moments of the song. I guess it ended up being our first single because it’s the track we were most excited about.

6. And now the second track, the title track. I think in this case it’s a little bit different respect to the first single, with a strong rock attitude. How much is important for your band find new way in terms of songwriting?

Our song writing process is unique. We write pretty much everything on our MacBooks! This means that we can pull the songs apart, chop, change, dissect and deliberate parts over and over again. All of our songs have a thick bed of programming, we just choose what the focus is in the mix. It’s all the same DNA, we’re just choosing what we want the listener to hear in each song.

7. If you have to pick one song from "We Never Die", which one would you pick and why?

The opening track on the record is called “Bring Me His Head”… it’s crazy! It’s one of our favourites because of the message in the track and the intensity of what we’re saying.

8. Which is the main message of this album?

Life will bring failure and setbacks but no matter what comes your way, never give up – we never die.

9. In terms of influences, who are the main names in this case?

Personally, I think it’s difficult to find names, you have a lot of elements in each song… Our biggest influences are Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon with the history of what inspired us every Friday at our local venue as kids – Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine, The Blackout and a load of other local bands.

10. How was your life during the pandemic?

We’re blessed but life has been hard for all of us, right? When the pandemic started, we were 2 weeks in to a 3 month tour of America and expected the album to be finished for release in Sep 2020. Here we are almost a year later and it’s finally coming out! In the meantime, we were able to learn so much while creating a “Lockdown Mixtape” EP from our bedrooms. This gave us some new tools and skills that we needed to finish the record.
