Interviews: Reverse The Moment

We have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Reverse The Moment from Romania. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Bogdan: The idea came from our ex-guitar player. I hated it. We were in a situation where we had a lot of material and were ready to set sail, but we couldn’t do this without a name. After days and days of brainstorming, his idea eventually started growing on me and here we are.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Edmond: For me, this genre was pretty new, an undiscovered thing when I entered the band. I have actually never listened to metalcore before. I was more of a nu-metal guy. But hey, here I am playing drums in a metalcore band, lessgoo!

Denis: I grew up listening to this genre and it also shaped me as a guitarist.

Gabi: I played in a few bands and different styles before, but I never really thought I was fitting there. I believe that metalcore suits me better. I just love the perfect mix of hardcore and something melodic.

Bogdan: Before forming this band, I always wanted to play melodic death metal

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Edmond: Well, I was asked to become the drummer back in the summer of 2018 by Gabi. We knew stuff about each other’s life, going to the same high school, but we never really got to know each other. He saw a video of me performing a drum solo with my former band and thought I’d be perfect for RTM. I came to know the other guys only when I entered the band.

Denis: I know Bogdan for quite a lot of time, but I met Edi and Gabi after I returned to the band. Couldn’t wish for more.

Gabi: I pretty much knew all the guys, but I knew Bogdan the most. He’s the one who asked me to join the band. After I said yes, we needed a drummer and since I knew Edi, I contacted him and now we’re in this together.

Bogdan: We’ve been through a few line-up changes throughout the years. As for the current one, I knew Denis for a long time. We’ve been through some stupid shit together. I also knew Gabi, but he was always the “oh fuck, not you again” type of guy when I’d come across him out in the pubs. I only met Edi after Gabi joined the band but it was love at first sight.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Edmond: That’s a tough one. It’s really hard to specify one band when you are listening to all sorts of genres, but in the metal scene I would say early In Flames. Definitely.

Denis: Bullet For My Valentine.

Gabi: My all-time favorite band is and will always be Slipknot.

Bogdan: Right now, probably Currents. I don’t know, I have lots of favorite bands. If you’re gonna ask me this again next week, I might have a different answer.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Edmond: The biggest inspiration for me, musically, comes from the radio hits of the ‘80s and ‘90s. I really think that the greatest choruses and melodies were made back then and that they have a huge impact on nowadays music overall.

Denis: Inspiration comes from everywhere if you look wisely.

Gabi: If I try to write a song or lyrics, I usually write about something that pisses me off. Something that I hate. That’s the truth.

Bogdan: I like to write about things that are real. Things that pretty much everyone can empathize with sooner or later, because you don’t always get that happy ending. I guess feeling down and depressed sometimes has its perks too.

6. Where was your last gig?

Denis: Sometime in 2020.

Gabi: If my memory doesn’t betray me, I believe it was in Cluj Napoca before the pandemic. I miss those times.

Bogdan: It was definitely in Cluj Napoca, February 2020. Feels like forever already.

7. Where would you like to act?

Denis: Rock am Ring and Hellfest.

Gabi: Anywhere, really. Just come see us and we’ll have fun. I promise.

Bogdan: Pretty much all those big festivals, like Wacken and Rock am Ring. I would also love to play Rockstadt, here in our country. Really cool place to be.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Denis: Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon, Blessthefall and Parkway Drive.

Gabi: Slipknot and Upon A Burning Body.

Bogdan: Someone we only dreamed of featuring with, is already on one of our songs, but we won’t say anything yet. You’ll have to check our album once it’s out and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Another one we can only dream of, would be Kellin Quinn. Who knows? Maybe one day.

9. Whom not?

Denis: MGK.

Gabi: I have no idea.

Bogdan: Definitely Gabi, our bass player.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Edmond: Stage what?

Denis: I think it’s normal to have a bit of stage anxiety and some interesting feelings when you play your first shows, but if you let them out it will blossom into something beautiful and I think this is how unique moments are created.

Gabi: I guess every time before a show, my hands are shaking and I start sweating because of how nervous I am. It all goes away before the 1 st song, especially when I see the crowd’s reaction.

Bogdan: Every time, yes. It’s a scary thought for me, but beautiful at the same time. As a tip or something that works for me at least, I sometimes close my eyes when I sing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Edmond: I could write a whole list, really. But from a RTM point of view, I think what inspires my drumming the most is the speed/power of Joey Jordison (R.I.P.) and the experimental approach of Mario Duplantier (Gojira).

Denis: Bullet For My Valentine, As I Lay Dying and Parkway Drive.

Gabi: I think Slipknot is the obvious answer for me. Actually, now that I think about it, I’ll say Jinjer too. Oh yeah.

Bogdan: I grew up on bands such as Iron Maiden, Gamma Ray and Hammerfall. The bands that inspired me to pick up a guitar and start singing tho, were Bullet For My Valentine, Children Of Bodom, Trivium and Linkin Park.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Edmond: STOP ASKING FOR MY T-SHIRTS D*MIT! My wardrobe is not a free merch store!

Denis: To draw my belly with a lipstick.

Gabi: Can’t talk about it. Children might be reading this too.

Bogdan: To take pictures. But not with me. With my guitar... Ah, the pain...

13. What do you think of your fans?

Denis: They’re the best, every time. Wish I could drink a beer with each one of them during this lifetime. Gabi: They can’t be bad people if they enjoy what we do.

Bogdan: We love you guys. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support you’re providing us. You have no idea how much something simple can mean.

14. What do you think of our site?

Bogdan: I believe what you guys are doing is really amazing. Your website is definitely an easy access to all sorts of news of both huge and underground bands.

15. Something to add?

Denis: A huge thanks and a big hug for everybody who supports us during these inconvenient times. We can’t wait to see you again. Cheers!

Edmond: Take care and don’t forget to make love!

Bogdan: The Eatwell Guide says we should drink 6 to 8 cups or glasses of fluid a day. Water, lower fat milk and sugar-free drinks, including tea and coffee, all count. Stay hydrated. Until next time!
