Interviews About Albums: NARGATHROND - Killing Season (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the German Horror Metal/Metalwave artist NARGATHROND to ask some questions about his new album "Killing Season"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

“Killing Season” is a unique mix of Horror, Synthwave, Metal, and Soundtrack. It feels like you watch a movie but you just hear the music which paints pictures in your head. It feels very brutal from the lyrics, haunting by the atmosphere but sometimes also danceable.

I would call it a whole horror movie.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The title describes the summary of the story that this album tells. It's a concept album. A girl was raped, tortured and killed by her boyfriend in the forest. However, the spirit finds no rest and returns to the lifeless body. now she decides to take revenge on every man who approaches this forest.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

I (Stefan Lorenz) am the composer of everything instrumental. The three guest singers were able to let their creativity flow and write the lyrics and vocals to cover the ideas I gave them.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I would pick the title track “Killing Season” because it´s the climax of the album or the main scene of the movie I could say. This is where all the hate can be released and the girl got her revenge. It also is very brutal and gory. The perfect highlight of a horror movie!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

I just wanna create a story and because I can´t make a whole movie I try to paint pictures and scenes with the music itself. Take it as a horror movie soundtrack. Every horror movie can show how evil we can be. Maybe this is the message.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

These 4 lines can describe everyone who suffers under another person and needs the strength to stand up and fight. Don´t let yourself drown from other people!

I was nothing, and now I am god
I was the shadow, and now I am not
I was the faceless, until they face me
So let the rivers of blood flow free

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

I get a lot of inspiration from (horror) movies and documentations of murderers and ask myself – why does someone do this? What happens in people's minds?

Musically definitely Carpenter Brut has the biggest influence. But I listen to a wide range of styles and just do what I want.

8. Something to add?

You can hire me for scoring your visuals with music because I also work as a production music producer. Whether it´s a movie, trailer, or personal project. Just shoot me an email to info@nargathrondmusic.com

Thank you for the chance to interview! Cheers
