Interviews: DYING HABIT

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band, DYING HABIT from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name you planned it or did it just come out like that?

The band name came about pretty much straight away. The name felt right and looked good on paper. There's no specific meaning behind it, it was more of a spontaneous name, which stuck straight away.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up with the kind of genre we play. Although we find it difficult to put our style into a specific category, it’s definitely inspired by alternative rock, and maybe some grunge.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, Mark and I (Nath) are brothers, and I met Alan way back in our teens. Our Bassist Daniel joined the band in 2020. The four of us have a strong bond and are incredibly passionate about Dying Habit and its future.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Daniel loves the album "To ride, shoot straight and speak the truth" by Swedish "death n' roll" masters, Entombed, who are his all-time favourite. Mark likes his heavy bands and has a number of favourites. Alan has a long list of bands from different types of genres, but his favourite has to be the rock band Therapy? Nath likes rock music too, and says he would also be Therapy?

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Speaking as the vocalist, I base my lyrics and melodies on the many life experiences from everyday life. As a band, we get inspiration from one another’s musical skills.

6. Where was your last gig?

We are currently playing local gigs and our last one was at a bar called, O’ Gradys, which is in North Wales.

7. Where would you like to play?

We love performing live shows, and are always happy to take on a gig. Our goals and ambitions are as big as we can make them.

8. Who would you like to support?

We grew up listening to the Irish rock band Therapy? And have been to a number of their shows. They always put on a great show, and have a great sound set-up at their gigs. We also enjoy watching their support acts. We would feel very privileged to support Therapy? on one of their tours.

9. Who not?

The only bands we wouldn't support are cover bands, as we are an original band. Supporters of original bands.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Speaking as the lead vocalist, I've often suffered from this to some degree. The best tip I can give, is to get into the music. And just forget you're on the stage. Allow your talents and passion to take over you when you're performing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our biggest influence has to be Therapy? Along with many other rock bands out there.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Daniel says when he played at a muddy festival once, a girl asked him for his shoes, she had lost her own somehow and felt that he should give up his. He thought that was a bit weird. Nath says, after one of our shows, we all went outside for a breather, when we were approached by a guy who told us he loved our music, and really enjoyed our performance, to which we all thanked him. He then went on to ask if we had a spare £10, so he could get a taxi home! We were quite surprised, but how could we say no!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We adore all the support and love from our fans. It's an incredible feeling performing at gigs and watching our fans respond. We would love our fan base to keep growing.

14. What do you think of our site?

We are impressed by your site. It's a great place to discover new and upcoming bands. It’s easy to navigate, and very well put together. We are excited to be a part of it.

15. Something to add?

Music is in our blood, and we love the music we create. Thank you again for having us on your site.
