Interviews: Necrotesque

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Old School Death Metal band, Necrotesque from the Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Hi, first of all, thank you for the interview. The name Necrotesque i (Arjan) was made up a long time ago. It has no deeper meaning, it just made sense to me. Death, only bigger and greater!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Again, no deeper meaning. It's just the genre that gives us the most energy to play. We listen to all kinds of music, but playing this hits the sweet spot of all the band members.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, we had previous bands we played in together. The only new face in the band is our singer Lodewijk, who contacted us after we did a shoutout for a good singer.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Belphegor for Dave, Cattle Decap for Arjan, Cannibal Corpse for Lodewijk, Gloryhammer for Harald.. We are quite a diverse group of people ;)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We incorporate elements of gore and sex in our lyrics. We are interested in the workings of the human brain and the mental issues that are common in humankind. According to Freud, basically, all our behavioral patterns stem from sexual (mal)functioning. We explore these patterns and write songs about them because secretly or subconsciously, everyone can relate to them one way or another.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last one was opening for Graceless & Asphyx in a packed house. One of the better experiences we had thus far!

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere, but the open-air festivals really are a goal for us. Like Graspop, Hellfest, Metaldays, and the likes.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

So many bands.. but to be able to play with for instance Dismember or Grave would be the ultimate goal. I could die a happy man then.

9. Whom not?

No one in particular. Did not have any really bad experiences yet, fortunately.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I did when I was younger, and our singer sometimes gets a little tense. But we all know even when we fuck up, it doesn't really matter.. we are there to have fun and the audience is there to have fun. If you fuck up, just either try to fix it, start over or move on.. nothing really happened

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For me, it was Dismember, Grave, Entombed.. all the original OSDM bands. And from the Netherlands Asphyx, Pestilence, Judgement Day, Pleurisy.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A sip of my beer, hahaha.. in Lithuania

13. What do you think of your fans?

Great of course.. they give us the energy to play on stage. The feedback you get is what makes us give more energy while performing.

14. What do you think of our site?

I'm sorry to say I hadn't seen it before but it looks like you are active in the underground scene which is always a big plus of course!

15. Something to add?

Not really. We invite everybody to come and see us play and if we are not in your neighborhood, listen to us on Spotify or YouTube. We just released a new music video of our song Sexual Sadism Disorder. An actual music video, not just a lyric video!
