Interviews: Set the Sun

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal band, Set The Sun from the USA and Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Set the Sun was a name we picked because it represents pursuing something that might seem impossible and getting through it. Ultimately about hope amidst darkness and chaos. Our mission is to provide a soundtrack for fighting through challenges that feel impossible - to be an authentic voice for unspoken conflict. Casting light on it, on unseen challenges, both internal & external struggles.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We want to create music that connects with people emotionally - and to be able to write songs that go to different places - whether that’s something dark, something beautiful, or something mysterious. Hard rock and metal give us the freedom to explore all of that and give a song the weight that its message deserves.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Arc and Eris go way back… that’s all we can say!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For Arc, it’s Deftones. For Eris, it’s Nine Inch Nails.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Creating something beautiful, something that properly embodies an emotion or a moment in time - something that we can be proud of. We want to write songs that capture the same magic as the songs that made us fans of music in the first place.

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven’t played this music live yet. We’re looking for our LP to drop first; after that, stay tuned.

7. Where would you like to act?

Playing an arena anywhere in the universe.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’ve been very fortunate to collaborate with some of our favorite artists, including Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter, Clint Lowery from Sevendust, Pete Murray from Lo-Pro, and many others. Mike Shinoda is pretty high on our list - Linkin Park was always a huge inspiration for us.

9. Whom not?

I feel like we could make any collab work. We enjoy the challenge.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Try to get back to the emotion that inspired that song, and focus on that instead of the audience.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Lots of rock bands like Linkin Park, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Karnivool, as well as electronic acts like Deadmau5, Nils Frahm, and much more!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Not much a fan can do to weird out a couple of weirdos like us!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them!! We have some amazing, super-dedicated fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great. Easy to navigate and covers such a wide variety of genres and subgenres. Almost like an encyclopedia of heavy music - love it!

15. Something to add?

We just launched our first two singles from our Debut LP. We made the music videos ourselves using AI-generation tools that we edited together, trying to create a more surreal and cinematic experience that could properly fit the songs.
