Interviews: Crimson Pride

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal/Rock band, Crimson Pride from Switzerland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had a lot of discussions and, above all, exchanged ideas. That's where "Crimson Pride" came from. The band's name has different meanings, but the most important thing to us is what it means to each and every one. Maybe the most important axis to develop would be that we are all human, we all bleed, we all laugh, we all make mistakes, we all learn. If it had to come down to one sentence, this one pretty much be it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Each member has a lot of influences and its own musical experiences, ranging from classical music, and jazz, to more powerful and dark metal. Merge together, it becomes very dynamic music, with powerful guitar riffs and heavy bridges, contrasting with melodic voices. Our genre imposed itself.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all met when we were around 16 years old. Prior to that, the lead guitarist and the bassist (Luca and Fred) had already known each other since childhood, as did the vocalist and the rhythm guitarist (Lio and Jojo). Fred and Lio met at the beginning of their studies, which brought together the first four members. Later on, we met the drummer (Jean).

4. Each band member's favorite band?

There are always bands that we appreciate more than others, but it's difficult to give names that truly surpass the rest. We could mention Avenged Sevenfold, Billy Talent, Rage Against the Machine, Disturbed, Tool, and so on. Some of us really enjoy bands like Pink Floyd, Airbourne, or The Eagles, to mention names outside of metal. But it's complicated to have a favorite band because each moment in life can bring different musical desires.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It often starts with individual inspiration from one of the band members. Then, all five of us work on it to shape the final product. This is the only part of the composition process that repeats more or less for each song.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Lausanne, in an intimate concert venue: the Rockies.

7. Where would you like to perform?

All bands dream of performing on the biggest international stages. So do we, but we set intermediate goals for ourselves. In the immediate future, playing at the Greenfield Festival, our “birthplace”, would already be incredible.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

We could mention some of the band names that we mentioned in previous questions. There isn't a specific band. However, to name a few: Rob Zombie, Asking Alexandria, Billy Talent, …

9. Whom not?

We would never refuse a nice stage.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, we have experienced it very often, and even today, we still feel a certain level of stress before each concert. This kind of stress is almost significant because it also shows that what you do matters to you. As for a simple piece of advice: breathing exercises. For others, having a drink before going on stage can do the trick.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are so many that it's impossible to name just one. It's a mixture of most of the bands we have talked about so far. Even the Floyds have inspired us for a part of “Crimson Night”, for example.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign their butt…

13. What do you think of your fans?

A portion of our fans has been supporting us since the early days of the band. These are individuals whom we’ve known for a long time, and they are incredible. The community is expanding, and new fans are emerging, even in countries far from our own. It’s so nice to receive encouraging comments from all around the world.

14. What do you think of our site?

I didn’t know it before, but it looks like a nice way to discover new bands. I’ll keep an eye on the upcoming posts.

15. Something to add?

Nothing to add.
