Interviews: LCTR

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band, LCTR from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Tim (guitars): Wanting to die at work. Something about a locator number and I thought it sounded like a good one-word band name. We removed the vowels by popular demand.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Tim: I have always had a love for simple heavy no frills heavy music. No backing tracks, no clean singing just straightforward heavy.

Geoff (drums): Iv always loved playing simple in-your-face heavy beats.

Travis (vocals): I’ve been in a grind and death metal bands before. My last band was a sludge band but always wanted to play something super simple and straightforward

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tim: We are another band fronted by a frontman from another band.

Travis: I’ve known Greg and Tim for years. They were some of the first people I met when I moved to Richmond as our older bands played together quite often. Geoff I met more recently through Alcindor.

Geoff: Yes we have all been in the same music scene for years and played shows together in previous bands.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Travis: my list changes a lot but bands like thou, circle of dead children, Jedi mind tricks, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave.

Tim: Type O negative

Greg (bass): Jaco Pastorius

Geoff: Too many to answer haha Acacia Strain, old Bury Your dead, to name a couple.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Travis: the human experience, all the emotions, and things we deal with on a daily basis. This is my outlet, my therapy.

Tim: I play music for myself. I have garnered very lil attention to anything I do musically and have achieved hardly any success. It's almost like slamming my head against a wall would probably be less expensive.

Geoff: Life's aggressions haha.

6. Where was your last gig?

Tim: First show 6/21/23

Travis: as of writing this, our debut show will actually be tomorrow, as Tim said

7. Where would you like to gig?

Travis: would love to get out to the West Coast, they seem to love some good heavy music.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Travis: Vincent from Acacia Strain

9. Whom not?

Geoff: Stupid artist that I don't like duh

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Travis: Something Henry Rollins said, nothing can go wrong up there, even if you forget anything, just act like you didn't and keep going. You’ll eventually catch on

Tim: My very first show, I was only doing vocals, I just closed my eyes and stomped around while I yelled into a microphone. And 20 years later that formula still works. Having long hair to hide my eyes helps, almost like a curtain between me and people but also in my later years I have played to too many empty rooms to be bothered by anything.

Greg: no, but I did almost shit myself at Shadow Woods Festival

Geoff: Nope the stage from the first show on just felt right and all came naturally.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Tim: Cut the architect's hand, the American dream, iron tusk, diseased earth, Alcindor.

Geoff: Too many to answer haha drummers Iv always looked up to for technique though are Travis Barker and Mark Castillo.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Tim: First of all we'd have to have fans, but someone actually wanted to take a picture with me after a show, which was bad because my face cracked the lens.

Travis: I once got asked to sign a fan's stump, they had their legs removed and asked me to sign it.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Tim: I love anyone that is willing to give us a chance.

Geoff: What Tim said haha I love everyone who gives us a listen and likes what they hear.

14. What do you think of our site?

Travis: love the site, so many cool bands and great content

Tim: Love everything positive in life.

15. Something to add?

Travis: be sure to check out our debut ep “Goodness won't save you from the Fire” and well see you in the pit.
