Interviews: Infernalizer

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy  Metal band Infernalizer from Italy. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

INFERNALIZER: Well, Hellraiser was already taken so I didn't have many alternatives left

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

INFERNALIZER: Because it's fun and most of the bands out there nowadays are so damn boring. Much of the sense of entertainment has been lost in today's heavy metal music, Ghost is one of the very few bands that are still fun to listen to and watch. We have a very dark image and often the topics covered are quite gloomy, but the approach we have is typical of an 80s horror movie, so we basically want to be “The Lost Boys” or “A Nightmare on Elm Street” of heavy metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

INFERNALIZER: Yeah, there aren't that many reliable musicians around here, especially those who play this genre. It's full of buffoons and clowns posing as wannabe rock stars, but there are very few people I can get along with on a human level that can actually play.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

INFERNALIZER: Ghost at the moment, their latest album Impera is still on heavy rotation on my playlist, brilliant band. Besides that, you'll always find me listening to Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Type O Negative, and so on...

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

INFERNALIZER: Life. The spark of inspiration always comes from the experiences you live. Then you can cover it with various metaphors and symbolisms and make everything more suitable for the genre you want to play, but the greatest source of inspiration is always life itself.

6. Where was your last gig?

INFERNALIZER: Wiernsheim in Germany, is pretty cool, we always have a blast when we play in Germany. Touring has become quite expensive nowadays, not that it was cheap before, but it's way more expensive now, so we are very picky about which concerts to play, honestly, it must be worth it both in terms of exposure and income, otherwise we prefer to stay in the studio creating new songs.

7. Where would you like to act?

INFERNALIZER: It is not so much the conditions that are proposed to us. I don't need to play live to pay my bills, so if I do it I want it to be my way, otherwise, I'd rather avoid it and do something else. So to answer your question, wherever the conditions are right make a show that meets our expectations.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

INFERNALIZER: Tobias Forge from Ghost.

9. Whom not?

INFERNALIZER: I won't do names, but many bands that are popular today literally disgust me and I still can't understand how such talentless pieces of shit could have reached such levels of fame.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

INFERNALIZER: Use drugs, alcohol, or both.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

INFERNALIZER: Iron Maiden, the entire heavy metal world will always be indebted to Iron Maiden for everything they have done.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

INFERNALIZER: I have received various proposals every now and then, some are more colorful than others, but I don't think it's appropriate to disclose them.

13. What do you think of your fans?

INFERNALIZER: I have good taste in music, clearly, but I don't like the word "fans", it has a negative connotation, I prefer "supporters".

14. What do you think of our site?

INFERNALIZER: pretty cool, but you already know it.

15. Something to add?

INFERNALIZER: Yeah, the very limited red-vinyl edition of our latest record “AFTER DARK” is still available, it won't last long and won't be reprinted, so if you want a copy you better get it now.
