Interviews: Hatefulmurder

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band Hatefulmurder from Brazil. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Renan: The idea for the band name came from our former singer. At the time we were younger (laughs) We believe that the name reflects exactly the type of music we make. Strong, intense, and impactful.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Renan: I believe everything came naturally. We are lovers of heavy and extreme music.  

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Angélica: Yes, we know each other, we actually battle each other in a contest of bands called Metal Battle for play at Wacken Open Air. At that time, I had another band, and the funny story is that Hatefulmurder won the competition and today I am at Hatefulmurder.   

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Angélica: Impossible to name only one band :P I guess we all have the Top 5, which has changed over the years.  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Angélica: This chaotic world we live in and how we humans respond to all of this. 

6. Where was your last gig?

Angélica: It was in our hometown, Rio de Janeiro, at one of the greatest venues in the city with a lot of great bands from Brazil, including Project 46, a band that if you don't know yet, I really recommend you to hear it!  

7. Where would you like to act?

Renan: It has been part of our plans for a long time to tour Europe. In 2024 we will finally make it!  

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Renan: I wouldn’t know how to answer now (laughs). Our vocalist (Angélica Burns) sang a track with Sepultura on the album (sepulquarta) together with Mayara Puertas (Torture Squad) and Fernanda Lira (Crypta). They made the song: Hatred Aside. That was amazing!  

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that? 

Angélica: I don't think any of us has suffered that. But as a really introverted person, I could say that even the shyest person can play, and the biggest tip I can tell you is: play and play and play. Just grab all the opportunities you have to play alive, in the end, playing at a stage is like any activity you begin with that you never had done before, you will be insecure, but the more you do, the more you get stronger at that. 

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Angélica: I guess each member has your inspirations. I have a lot also, but I can tell you some of the bands that inspire me to sing and to play a ive: Arch Enemy and Slipknot were my main inspirations when I was young and saw playing live.    

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Angélica: To be honest, I don't remember anything weird. They are always very kind to me.  

13. What do you think of your fans?

Angélica: We love them! They are the reason why we have been doing this for over these years! Our last album "Reborn" was totally supported by our fans, because we did one crowdfunding campaign. It was really awesome!

14. What do you think of our site?

Angélica: It´s awesome. We really really appreciate the opportunity you have for us and for many other bands in the world to share their music.
