Interviews About Albums: The Hill Is Burning - From Alpha To Omega (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the French Metal band The Hill Is Burning to ask questions about their upcoming album "From Alpha To Omega". 

1. What can you say about this new CD?

We had the idea of this album after viewing 'Interstellar" by Chris Nolan. The world of the film gave us a lot of ideas! We are also into science fiction and anticipation, the first songs were composed during covid, in 2021, Worms, for example, was a catalyst for the bullshit that we could hear every day!

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

From Alpha to Omega, alludes to a rather nice phrase "from the beginning to the end of everything", that's a bit of what we believed for the last few months when we watched the news, of fear, of death and the disease was all we saw! so it didn't seem completely crazy to think that we had reached the end of something...

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

The main composer of the group is Cédric...yes, it's me hahaha I composed almost 100% of what you can hear on the album, especially because I like to work alone on the compositions, and I had a clear vision of the album. It's also easier when you're short on time, which was the case for us.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Surely sec'o'Foot! The text came from one of those dreams where you no longer know if you are awake or asleep, you are floating, and your ideas are fuzzy, but everything seems familiar to you, and the music was written in one go! I like this kind of song, where everything flows without really thinking!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

If there is a message in this album, it is that we have experienced so many disgusting, depressing, and painful moments, that we had to look elsewhere and turn our eyes toward the sky, human beings disgust us so much. ! keep your head in the stars and connect to the universe, without letting the mainstream media fill your head with nonsense, here is our message: think for yourself, and keep your eyes open!

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Yes, the lyrics of "The Dreamer" is very important for us :

All the time forest moves front me,

Spines of live shredding my skin

And hurt’s me, try to arrested me

This river is not my own, my sky is so much grey,

for me, I feel it! Believe into this….

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

As I said, we took a lot of inspiration from movies and books, The Stand of Stephen King, and all his universe, Sci-fi movies, and horror movies, with Dario Argento and George Romero opus for example.
