Interviews About Albums: Truth Untold - Omittance (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Danish Progressive Rock band Truth Untold to ask questions about their album "Omittance".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

As the first EP from Truth Untold as a complete trio, it is an in-depth and emotional musical work that brings its listeners on a journey through an exciting, dark, and unpredictable universe.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The idea for the name "Omittance" came to us when we were discussing what the name of the EP should be. Each song revolves around a specific part of being in a relationship, tied to different emotions. The name 'Omittance' reflects the theme of neglect, originating from neglecting something and realizing it—a fitting term, perhaps also because of its musical connotations.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

While all of us contribute to writing and finalizing the songs, the main composer of the EP is the guitarist and lead singer Johan. His drive for generating new ideas and turning them into songs is remarkable.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

We don't fully agree on a single band favorite, but "Always" and "Perception's Fate" are high on the list. The former for its simplicity and cliché-like nature, the latter for how well it incorporates different elements to summarize the EP. "Critical Thinking," the first single, also holds a special place in our hearts, defining our sound and the essence of Truth Untold.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is, what is it?

There is no special message in the EP itself, but the songs are not composed without meaning or interpretation. The lyrics come from various places, each with a different story and heartfelt meaning.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

The lyrics for "Perception's Fate" are a band favorite. They carry a deeper meaning and work well as the final song of the EP, tying everything together into a powerful conclusion.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, bands like Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Dream Theater, Muse, In Flames, Normandie, Bring Me The Horizon, Tool, and Porcupine Tree have been influential in shaping our sound.
