Interviews: Bloodletter

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band Bloodletter from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Our drummer Zach and I were working on demoing our song ideas and we realized that all of the themes we wanted to write about were pretty mythical, or had some level of the supernatural, some demonic, and even high fantasy vibes to them. We started looking through books, games (specifically RPGs like Diablo II), and other folktales and we found Bloodletter. For some reason, it seemed to stand out from the rest and we went with it!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When Zach and I formed the band we had both come from playing in punk bands. Thrash metal is the kindred spirit to punk rock genre-wise and we both wanted to play fast music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Zach and I were friends and in a band together before Bloodletter was formed. Zach and Tanner had been friends since high school. Zach and Tanner knew Pat through his brother and we all became best friends when Pat joined.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Zach: The Black Dahlia Murder.

Pete: Iron Maiden

Tanner: Thin Lizzy

Pat: Sylosis

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

There are too many people, bands, and things to list! Honestly, we all get inspired by the music we like, books we read, movies we've watched, stories we've heard, and bands we've seen live. It's a cool feeling to hear something from a band you love and want to try and sound like it or put your own interpretation on it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Soundgrowler Brewing in Tinley Park, Illinois. A kick-ass brewery that loves metal, and we love them!

7. Where would you like to act?

We'd love to play the East and West coasts of the USA a lot more, we've been dying to play France, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark as we've had a lot of new listeners from those countries find our music!

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We don't really get stage fright. Sure we get pre-show jitters, but we more often get pumped and just want to play! The waiting to play is the worst part!

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

We draw a lot of inspiration from Skeletonwitch, Iron Maiden, Kreator, At The Gates, The Black Dahlia Murder, Slayer, Sylosis (early), and Warbringer.

10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan once asked to kiss Pete's brain surgery scar. (Weird, but kind of sweet right? Maybe?)

11. What do you think of your fans?

We love them. They've supported us so much and continue to do so. For 10 years we've been lucky to have such awesome fans. We were stunned by the response to the latest record. 2023 was a very good year.

12. What do you think of our site?

We love it! We particularly enjoy how each and every subgenre of metal and hardcore are listed. Giving each and every one of them their fair due! You give a lot of coverage to new bands and that's so important. People need to hear the new stuff!

13. Something to add?

Thank you so much for spending some time with us and we hope to see you all at a show soon!
