Interviews About Albums: Fragment Soul - Galois Paradox (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek Progressive Metal band Fragment Soul to ask questions about their album "Galois Paradox"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

"Galois Paradox" is the second album from Fragment Soul, preceded by their debut album "Axiom Of Choice" which was released in May of 2021.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

This is a concept album, loosely based on the final days of 19th century mathematician Évariste Galois. It is a fictionalized and dramatized account of his life, with many liberties taken to make the story more compelling.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Everyone in the band contributed to the composition of the album, with Spiros and Jimmy primarily writing the music while Marc and Tamara took care of the vocals.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

The tracks "All That I Despise" and "The Pain Ceased" are personal favorites, they give a good idea of the direction the band is headed in.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

As mentioned, this is a concept album about mathematician Évariste Galois.
The lyrics explore themes of love, loss, and his particular disdain for modern society at the time - despite his major contributions to it.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

From "All That I Despise":

'What hides below me? Underneath these rampant streets I long to find a way to transcend

The powers that mock me, and bleed from me my patience - wearing thin. I live despite the demons.'

This describes a man at the edge of his sanity, wanting nothing more than to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern society, and the ever-growing population.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Too many musical inspirations to name! We'd like to thank all the fans who have waited patiently and continued to support us, our friend Anders from Draconian, and our families. 8. Something to add? Fragment Soul is eager to get back on stage again, which we hope to do later this year.
