Interviews: Empire Demolition

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Hardcore band Empire Demolition from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Empire Demolition is a local hauling and demolition company we are fans of - we named the band in homage.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We just play our instruments and yell and this is the stuff that comes out naturally for the most part.

Nick asks himself this question after we finish practicing. Maybe he’ll play something easy and slow next. Less punishing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nick knew Kendrick from our days in Florida playing in various bands. We felt like we knew Justin as well, perhaps in another life, reconnecting in this one as bandmates.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Kendrick: Melvins, Glassjaw, Cradle of Filth

Nick: Utada Hikaru, Spaceghostpurrp, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff

Justin: Hard to pick just one, so I’ll go with the newest band I’m super stoked about, Knoll.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Making our instruments make rad sounds, feeling emotions in other music, caffeine, the absurdity of life, and the energy when all three of us get together.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played in Denver at Hi Dive on January 12th with Poison Tribe, Upon a Fields Whisper, and Clarion Void - all solid bands worth your time checking out!

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d really like to play some shows down in Texas soon and also get out to Vegas and California. And also, Bilbao, Spain!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Some dream tour buds would be Heavy Heavy Low Low, Melvins, Weekend Nachos, Chat Pile, and Better Lovers off the top of my head. Maybe being flown around by Bruce Dickinson in the Iron Maiden jet!

9. Whom not?

Any band we don’t legitimately like. We aren’t in this to make a living, climb socially, or with an endgame we’re scrambling to, so we aren’t interested in collaborating with people and artists whose work we don’t respect or like.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Imagine the crowd is your enemy.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

And artists are not afraid to get weird with it, hard to label, and creatively inspired. Also in general Napalm Death - decades of longevity, different eras of sick musical output, powerful and fun to watch live.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

More music from us. But for real, signing stuff feels weird, we’re just some dudes haha!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Very fine people. The best. They have great taste!

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great, thanks for having us!

15. Something to add?

Stream “Defenestration” repetitively wherever you listen to music and tell literally everyone you know about us.
