Interviews: Neversaid

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Emo Punk band Neversaid from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or did it just come out like that?

Logan: The band name kinda came out of nowhere after I realized that the previous project title ‘East 12th Street’ was way too much of a mouthful! I was just brainstorming ideas of word combinations that sounded cool, which is how I came up with ‘Neversaid’!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Logan: I feel like our sound combines loads of different subgenres, from pop-punk to hardcore, but we primarily call ourselves emo as a blanket term for everything we play! The genre speaks to me because of its raw emotion, it’s the only genre where it’s acceptable to yell about your feelings for 3 minutes and call it a song!

Jordan: This genre of music has been present in my life from the age I wanted to learn how to play instruments till now.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Logan: The band was formed in 2020, but Jordan and Koda joined in 2023! We met at uni, where Koda and I had previously exchanged nods in passing as two of the only emos at the uni. The first time we actually met and introduced ourselves, I learned that he played bass and pretty much immediately asked if he’d be interested in playing in Neversaid!

Koda: As Logan mentioned, we met at uni. Somehow we had no mutual friends despite the uni being quite small. We met entirely by chance, I guess dressing like a 2000s reject works wonders for meeting potential band members!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Logan: I could name so many, but Green Day was the band that introduced me to the genre, so I’ll go with them!

Koda: Siouxsie and the Banshees and System Of A Down currently, although it changes a lot.

Jordan: My all-time favorite band would have to be A Skylit Drive.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Logan: A lot of my lyrics are about my struggles with my mental health. It’s really cathartic to channel so much negative energy to create something positive!

Jordan: I'd say for me it could start from anything, an interaction, an experience. Inspiration finds me anywhere in life.

6. Where was your last gig?

Logan: Our last show was in November when we played at the Ship Inn in Gillingham.

7. Where would you like to play?

Logan: The Underworld in Camden is definitely top of my bucket list!

Koda: I'd love to play the Face Down event at Scala London, it would genuinely be a dream.

Jordan: Resurrection Fest would be sick!

8. Who would you like to support?

Logan: Again, I could name so many, but I’m gonna say Trash Boat, as I think they’re one of the sickest bands in the scene right now!

Koda: I think I’d have to say Wargasm (UK) or Static Dress, gotta be the best two bands I’ve seen live. They put on an incredible show.

Jordan: Lamb of God, just a bunch of amazing musicians all around.

9. Who not?

Logan: Falling In Reverse, because any artist who uses their platform to spread any kind of hateful agenda, doesn’t deserve the platform to begin with! I loved their music as a teenager, but Ronnie’s constant message of transphobia over the past few years has put me right off them.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Logan: Not so much stage fright, but I was nervous to perform at the Gillingham date on our last tour. I had gotten barely any sleep over the past few days and had almost completely lost my voice. I got over it by thinking “what’s the worst that can happen?” Even if we had gotten booed off stage, it would have made a great story! Luckily, I got through the set with only a couple of voice cracks!

Jordan: I haven't suffered from stage fright, I believe that as humans we all get nervous. I came across a saying that helped me with the concept of stage fright. "Don't practice till you can get it right, Practice until you can't get it wrong." The more prepared you are with what you need to play, it doesn't matter what may happen on stage. At least you know where and what you should be doing at that moment.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Logan: The Used, Trash Boat, Knocked Loose, My Chemical Romance, As It Is, Stick To Your Guns, and Silverstein to name a few!

Jordan: Static-X, A Skylit Drive, and Breaking Benjamin!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Logan: I don’t think any of us have been asked for anything weird by fans, but there’s still time! I did have a pretty awkward interaction with a fan at a Neck Deep show last summer, where I had just stage-dived, and fully face-planted on the floor. I got up and got tapped on the shoulder by a fan who knew me for being in Neversaid! Not at all awkward on their part, but pretty embarrassing on mine!

Koda: My Number ;)

Logan: I stand corrected.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Logan: Since starting this project, we’ve had such crazy support from people. We love our fans so much!

Jordan: An amazing bunch of people. So much love and light they give us and seeing them happy with our music at our shows brings me joy beyond measure.

14. What do you think of our site?

Logan: Your site is great! It’s so sick that you guys are supporting and uplifting upcoming artists! Thanks for helping keep the scene alive!

15. Something to add?

Logan: Our new EP ‘Bond Over Blood’ is out on March 26th! Pre-save it now, and follow us on social media to keep up to date with what we’re doing! https://linktr.ee/neversaidbanduk
