Midnight Altar was written in the weeks following the passing of vocalist Steve Naemark''s father. The lyrics capture the vulnerability he felt while holding his father's hand in his final moments. The song is about the final stage of grief: acceptance. The lyrics are a reminder to focus on the time they spent together, instead of dwelling on the time they cannot.
