Interviews: Horrorgraphy

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Symphonic Metal/Power Metal band, Horrorgraphy, from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The band's name was actually a mix of inspired improvisation and planning. We have always liked horror music and movies and of course horror aesthetics. So we wanted to make a symphonic metal music project with horror elements. We thought it would be inspirational and different.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted to play this genre of music because it can be easily mixed with many influences. Most of the band's members have other music projects as well and to be honest, it was the only music genre left to play except for the others.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we're all very good friends. Some of the band's members are bandmates in other projects as well.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

We all have many favorite bands that we appreciate and admire. As you can see from the "A Knight's Tale" album our music varies and moves in many different paths. Some of our influences are Therion, King Diamond, Orphaned Land, Iron Maiden, In this moment, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, Burzum, Cradle of Filth, Pink Floyd, Eloy, Crimson Glory, Dimmu Borgir, blind guardian, etc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As we said above, our inspiration emanates from our favorite bands and not only. It also comes from the personal experiences of the 3 basic band members and as well composers.

6. Where was your last gig?

Until now Horrorgraphy is a studio band with 3 albums in total. In the latest album, the lineup is new, which means we prioritized the composing and recording of it. So we haven't performed a live show yet.

7. Where would you like to act?

We're currently working with booking agencies, and we're trying to promote our new work. We're open to new cooperation and good deals for live shows.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have already featured the legendary Snowy Shaw in our latest album, which has participated in many bands such as King Diamond, Notre Dame, Opera Diabolicus, Therion, Mercyful Fate, Memento Mori, etc. We are willing to feature with many other great musicians as well in the future.

9. Whom not?

We don't have any problem cooperating with other artists as long as we can communicate as people first and as musicians as well.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We haven't performed as Ηorrorgraphy yet, but the band's members who have other music projects and are currently performing live shows, usually stress a little bit before the show, but as long as they receive people's positive vibes, they feel at home.

There's no "recipe" for stage fright, different things work for different people. We would suggest tones of work for a better preparation and a better result. That's something anyone can do.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Therion, King Diamond, Dimmu Borgir.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We usually have requests for signed CD copies and autographs from fans around the world and although our album was just released recently, we already have very positive feedback. The "weirdest" thing we received from a Latin-American fan was a photo of his fish tank. He told us he named some of his fish after the names of our band members. That was sweet!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We really love and appreciate them and we thank them for their support.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think that your website has interesting and diverse content and is very informed.

15. Something to add?

Stay tuned for more. In the meantime order your signed CD copy from our social media.
