Interviews: Molten

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Death Metal band, Molten, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

HB: When we started the band we wanted a simple name that had some weight to it. I was watching a documentary on the history of heavy metal and they said something about it being in a hot molten state. I pitched the idea to the guys and we all liked it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

BB: We all love metal and we had a collective idea to make something we were fans of that was original but driven by our inspirations in various genres of heavy music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

BB: We were all already friends except our first other lead guitarist Martin whom Herman knew and brought into the fold. The music scene in San Francisco is pretty small and tight-knit so we would see each other at shows and bars constantly and we became friends and shared an interest in starting a band of our own.

HB: Yeah, for several years we would run into each other and say that we should jam together. Eventually, we finally got to it and we liked the direction we wanted to take as a band

4. Each band member's favorite band?

BB: I’ll give you 3 Mercyful Fate, Thin Lizzy, Death

HB: We all have a lot of favorite bands. But my favorite band of all time would be Black Sabbath in all its incarnations

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

HB: Well the main drive is to play music and have fun doing it. We love all kinds of music but we’re metalheads and we have a passion for heavy music. It goes in phases, you get inspired by different artists and bands. Or even events that we experience, read about, witness, or hear about

BB: A lot of what we write about has to do with what goes on in the world on a day-to-day basis, usually in a negative sense. War, economic plight, tyrannical government, natural disasters, horror, and fantasy can usually be found in our lyrical content.

6. Where was your last gig?

BB: The last show we played was headlining at DNA Lounge in San Francisco

7. Where would you like to act?

BB: We want to play all over the world. If you have a town or venue that wants to see us, let us know! HB: We would especially love to play in Europe or South America

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

BB: Mercyful Fate, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Autopsy, Possessed, Kreator

HB: So many bands, Iron Maiden, King Crimson, Candlemass, Cavalera, Morbid Angel, Judas Priest, Napalm Death, Cirith Ungol, Opeth, Death Angel, Suffocation, Voivod, to name a few. But yeah, Mercyful Fate would be the main one for all of us

9. Whom not?

BB: Far too many to name

HB: No Metalcore or Emo

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

HB: We all go through that at one point or another. You just have to push through and let yourself loose, after you’re immersed in the music, nothing else matters.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

BB: Mercyful Fate, Death, Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel, Obituary, King Diamond, Thin Lizzy

HB: Yeah, Sabbath, King Crimson, Slayer, Venom, Candlemass, Voivod, Sepultura, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Maiden, Priest, Deep Purple, Rush, Scorpions, UFO, Pink Floyd, Celtic Frost, Motorhead, Robin Trower, Ozzy with Randy Rhoads, old Metallica, Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, ELP, Opeth, Discharge, Bathory, we could go on and on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

HB: My sweaty wristband

13. What do you think of your fans?

BB: They’re the best! Without them, we wouldn’t be able to keep making new music or playing to killer audiences.

14. What do you think of our site?

HB: Good stuff, we always support metal magazines, zines, and sites.

15. Something to add?

BB: Keep supporting underground music and metal in general. Tell your friends about the killer music you hear and spread the word. You guys make the bands what they are and what they become so support as much as you can.
