Behind The Artworks: NIHILO MACHINA - The Black River (2024)

The album cover was designed to represent “The Black River.” The river itself is shown to almost flow into the night sky. This would be a reference to the metaphorical escape of the black river into the ocean of the universe, as in the lyrics of “The Black River: Part II.” The night sky is pronounced to show the stars and space which are also reflected into the river. The patterns in the sky deliberately follow the flow of the river as well. This is to illustrate part of the concept in the song “Singularity” wherein the universe is a single homogeneous, connected, entity. The logo (by Moonroot Art) in the top left sits in the night sky. The very design of the logo was intentional to the themes of the seemingly infinite expanse of the universe and thusly hangs in the sky.
