Interviews: AZIMUT19

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band, AZIMUT19. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Hello! I would like to thank you for your interest in our band. No, we didn’t plan a name, I think it’s generally weird to plan a name in advance, haha. In my life it turns out like this: first, there is an idea, which you form inside for some time. Then, the name etc. comes out when the way of realization is visible. So it happened this time too. When the project itself and the musical line got clear form, it was time to give a name. Moreover, the name itself agrees with the idea that you don’t need to doubt, just determine your own way and follow it to the end, whatever happens. The number “19” means the year the project was born. It's simple, haha.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Like I said, it happened mostly on its own. It just so happened that I wanted to start communicating with the world in a different musical language. I don't see how you can create something by choices we are used to making in our daily lives. It has to be inside of you, it doesn't work any other way.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we all knew each other before. When I conceived this project, I didn't expect that it would gain such momentum, but start developing along the traditional way - a full line-up of musicians, work with a label, concerts, etc. That's why AZIMUT19 at its foundation was not a band as is. I had some ideas and showed them to my old friend and colleague, with whom we had been running another project Nomans Land for 20 years. He liked the musical line idea and we got down to the work of material writing with great enthusiasm. Our friend gladly agreed to record the bass guitar for the album, and then, when we decided to convert the project into a regular format, he agreed to join us.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

As for me, I like Slayer - they are my heroes in Metal \m/

Alex – Slayer, Kalmah, Entombed, Amorphis

Vitalii – Slayer, Hypocrisy, Tool, Meshuggah, Behemoth, Pink Floyd

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Oh, universe one and only!) Although, different challenges and problems of our time, which I would like to share with the listeners. It's hard to add anything else...

6. Where was your last gig?

We have just started to develop our project, so the performances are still only in the plans. Now we are preparing and I'm sure in the next few months we can be seen on stage. And in general, we are ready to perform everywhere, so we are waiting for offers, hehe.

7. Where would you like to act?

There is no big difference for us where to perform. We are happy to play wherever we are expected and wherever we are not)). We have played several European tours with Nomans Land and played at different festivals and we need to be face-to-face with our fans, and it doesn't matter so much where it will take place.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are a lot of people we would like to share the stage with. There are tons of great bands and the more of them there are, the more friends we'll have in our musical lives. This is absolutely priceless!

9. Whom not?

That's a compromising question, I never even thought about that, haha. I've never met anyone in my life that I didn't want to perform with, maybe because I've been lucky and always met only good people and musicians.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course, especially when we were just starting our musical career. I remember that before my first gig, I was so nervous, but when I got on stage I was no longer afraid ). It was like someone flipped a switch in my mind in the other direction. And I played my notes without a single mistake. It is hard to believe, but that's how it was haha, I swear. For beginners, mmm. I can tell you that the chill goes away with the first chords and if it's really your thing, then you'll forget about all this nonsense and you'll be pounding riffs into the heads of your grateful listeners and feel at home. In general, the more you perform, the sooner you forget about stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I don't listen to a lot of music nowadays, I think it's become monotonous. There are not a lot of people to listen to, so our inspirations are still the old bands AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Morbid Angel & etc.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Wow! The Weirdest thing was to sign our fan's shaved head, there were five brutal ladies …

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are people who are very subtle and have good taste in music. Our music makes you think and ponder, as they say. Such opinion gives us optimism and helps us to go forward and try to make music even more interesting and not to slip into primitives. We will be glad if there will be more people who think and understand music well. It will help us to improve the quality of our life, not only in the cultural sphere but also in all other spheres.

14. What do you think of our site?

Great site with comprehensive coverage of metal bands, in-depth interviews, promoting and spreading metal music. Really impressive

15. Something to add?

We wish you all a lot of good music and interesting discoveries on the heavy scene. Follow your dreams, believe in yourself, and never give up! We want to thank you for helping to make us closer to the fans of heavy music. We all do one big thing and may all gods of the world help us in this! Keep rocking on and keeping the metal community united and informed!
