Interviews: Battlefront

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal/Melodic Metal/Glamcore band, Battlefront, from Mexico. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Before we even started the band, we had a concept that came from the idea that rock is dead, which we think is untrue. All of us who support this music, be it bands, media, festivals, etc., are the Battlefront, and we keep this fire alive.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We like this heavy music genre because we can express our musical and lyrical desires and be heard, understood, and make a connection with like-minded people.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. Corvo and James are brothers and thus recruited Moon, Fearr, and Haze. Musicians who have the same point of view and ideas about music.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Corvo: Van Halen

Fearr: Escape the Fate

Haze: Gorillaz

James: Kiss

Moon: Led Zeppelin

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life itself. Experiences that all of us have had or will have. We like to talk about things that are real and that people can identify with... and sometimes things that are not real like vampires and monsters just for the sake of it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Foro 28 at Mexico City, opening for the Finnish band Omnium Gatherum.

7. Where would you like to act?

Madison Square Garden, Hollywood Bowl, Budokan Hall.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Some of our greatest influences with whom we would like to collaborate are either dead or retired, but the ones that are still active would be Megadeth, Slash, or Ghost.

9. Whom not?

Anyone who does not see or feel music the same way as we do.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We all do at one point, the very first time you play a gig. Nervousness never goes away, it is you wanting to give the best show, but sometimes some things are not in your control, thus you get nervous every time. Our best advice for starting musicians on how to beat stage fright would be to do it again and again and again, and eventually, you'll find yourself enjoying it and feeling relaxed, knowing that screw-ups can and will happen sometimes. Learning to stay calm at eventualities can go a long way. Always look for solutions, not problems.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kiss, Van Halen, Ghost, Metallica, Black Sabbath. Bands can go up on stage and be entertaining while keeping their musicality as a main objective.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

You're not gonna believe this, but once, at an undisclosed location in Mexico, a girl came backstage and was so euphoric about the show that we gave her a guitar pick and she asked Corvo if he wanted her to pee on him. Some people have strange fetishes and stranger ways of asking. That's the weirdest thing that has ever happened to any of us.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love each and everyone who follows us because we are a band that nobody has ever handed anything to, and having people actually following us means that we are doing something right, so we want to give them the best show and music that we can as a way of thanking them. We try to outdo ourselves and raise the bar so that people settle for nothing less than what we offer them. We do this for the audience and no one else.

14. What do you think of our site?

We'd like to congratulate and thank you because there aren't many sites that give space for underground bands to start up, and by doing it you are part of the resistance, part of the battlefront. We really like the way the page is designed and the layout, it's easy for us to find out about news and listen to new music.

15. Something to add?

We want to thank you for the space and for the interview. Please stay tuned to our social media for the upcoming release via Sliptrick Records. You can find us as @battlefront.mx everywhere.
